Two new free games arrive through Xbox Games With Gold

Whenever we reach the halfway point of any month, Xbox gamers prepare themselves for new freebies as the Xbox Games With Gold scheme switches things up a bit. As has been the case for each and every month that has gone before it, March 2021 is no different and right now it is possible to download two new freebies. 

The Xbox Games With Gold scheme for March 2021 may not be the most exciting month ever in terms of quality free Xbox games, but whenever we get the opportunity to fill out our Xbox digital library with new titles, we should do. Following on from the price stripping of both Metal Slug 3 and Warface Breakout at the beginning of the month come the brilliantly named Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse and the seafaring Port Royale 3. 

We’ll start with the latter of the two titles and in Port Royale 3 you’ll find yourself heading to the Caribbean as the 17th Century turns in. It is here where you take charge of a young seafaring captain; a man with intentions set to become the most powerful in the world. Expect to take in the usual elements of any ship sailing series with naval battles, raids, the chance to plunder and involve yourself in invasions right at the fore of matters. 

With a couple of campaign options in play – they of Adventurer and Trader – and a huge world to travel, it’s possible you’ll forget that this was a game that originally launched on Xbox 360 back in 2012. Don’t let that put you off though as thanks to the power of Backwards Compatibility, you’ll be able to play Port Royale 3 – for free – on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S too. The Xbox Store will let you grab the free download as long as you have a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription in house. 

Joining Port Royale 3 is the utterly nuts Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse. An Xbox One and Xbox Play Anywhere release from 2018, you’ll usually find yourself having to shell out £11.99 for Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse. For the next 4 weeks or so though – until the middle of April in fact – it is being stripped of its price tag for Xbox Live Gold members, letting you take in a self-proclaimed world’s best mass llama-slaughter roguelike-lite-ish couch co-op top-down twin-stick shooter. 

That’s a lot of bases covered right there yet with that Xbox Play Anywhere support, some local cooperative options, totally unique playthroughs and tons of weapons to enjoy, it’s one that should well fill a gap.
