Bringing Art To Two Point County
Two Point County is a rather marvellous place, and never takes itself too seriously as the rather delicious pun in title of this latest DLC demonstrates. The health, education and now arts sectors are booming, with rapid growth seen across the land. This latest expansion for Two Point Museum shines the spotlight firmly on that very discipline, after dabbling with exploration in prehistoric, aquatic and out of this world environments.
Build A Museum Full Of Masterpieces
Two Point Museum: Arty-Facts maintains the features of the main game, but this time the action is centred around the brand new museum location; Undee Docks. As an Art Expert, you’re tasked with getting the residents of Two Point County excited about art again, carrying out something of a rebrand.
This means you’ll need to get recruiting art experts, which are new to Two Point Museum: Arty-Facts. These highly skilled individuals are required to drive the creative force within your museum, with the potential to create over 27 art exhibits. An artist needs space to work, right? Well, Two Point Museum: Arty-Facts has you covered, with the new art studio room which is where the magic happens.
The creation process works in a similar way to expeditions, with different ingredients affecting the finished product. There are all sorts of exhibits to unlock, from common to the pristine exhibits as well as extremely rare and stylised pieces. There are even “Famous Works” which can be created by your talented experts. Fancy displaying a sculpture of a chap getting down to business on the toilet? You can with “The Stinker”.
Crafting Exhibits, Expeditions And Auctions
You’ll be given a sketchbook from local expert Zara, which provides a new expedition map to explore. Sending your experts out on these will provide them with inspiration, resulting in weird and wonderful creations back in the museum. Some locations even offer the opportunity to obtain specific materials needed for creating different types of sculptures. As before, some installations require multiple parts before they can be displayed to the public.
There’s an impressive amount of wonderfully creative paintings and sculptures your experts can create. There are even interactive exhibits which are fun to watch your guests figure out, although they can make a bit of a mess. Exhibits also vary depending on the emotions driving the artist, and more will be unlocked as you head out on expeditions.
You can also choose to participate in art auctions to get more money for your masterpieces too. Each auction is themed, so matching the description will result in better sales and more success for your museum.
As ever, there are more items that unlock with the Two Point Museum: Arty-Facts expansion. Your cafe and gift shop will have appropriately themed items to sell, along with decorative and practical items for your museum and the various rooms within. Spotlights, wooden crates, exposed piping and decorative paint cans are just some of the items available with which to dress your museum and its exhibits with. It’s worth keeping an eye on earning that Kudosh through unlocking badges and the like to gain access to the full range of items.
More Creativity, Same Addictive Formula
My only small criticism, and it is small, is that the menu system feels like it’s fit to burst. There is so much going on and reams of information at your fingertips, despite mapping well to the buttons on the Xbox controller. However, I still found myself occasionally getting lost in menus, or wishing there were shortcuts for things like moving items which collide out the way more quickly (ie when placing one down it automatically lifts the item which clashes, so you can then move that one instantly).
Another Essential Expansion For Two Point Museum
That said, I just can’t get enough of Two Point Museum, and this expansion builds on what makes it such an enjoyable game to play. The humour is on point, it’s fizzing with creative flair and it’s easy to lose hours to it whilst in the pursuit of building the museum of your dreams that boasts a collection of masterpieces.
Two Point Museum: Arty-Facts once again allows Two Point Studios to flex the creative muscles. It integrates perfectly into the main game, all whilst providing plenty of reasons to get stuck in all over again.
