Two things they need to fix in Career Mode for Fifa 19

-

FIFA 18 represented one of the biggest steps forward that career mode has had for a little while. It had long been ignored and there had been little progress made on a game mode that used to be the jewel in the crown of the FIFA series. It has long been overtaken by Ultimate Team which is both a cash cow and a great advertising feature for FIFA. It is much easier to dip in and out of, you don’t need to plan as much as with career mode and it feels more fun than a game mode which is, originally, for slightly more serious (read nerdy) players.

FIFA 18 though introduced new features and ideas to career mode that have given it a little boost. The main one being the new negotiation feature where buying players feels far more real as you actually speak to the people you are doing a deal with. However it still feels very far removed from actual players or managers lives.

The aim of career mode has always been about realism but it feels miles away from being realistic. FIFA needs to take lessons from other games. You can look at, to give one example, online casino games. They also used to lack an authenticity and never felt realistic enough. However by investing in new ideas like the ones at newcasinofreespins.com , they have created amazingly realistic and fun games which make you feel as if you are in an actual casino. FIFA has failed to make you feel as if you are a real football manager.

There are though some obvious and easy to implement fixes that could well help to revive manager mode. There are two in particular which seem as if they could be done easily and quickly and would make FIFA 19 the best career mode yet.

Proper Press Conferences

One of the biggest parts of being a manager, in real life, is doing press conferences and taking questions from the press. As bbc.com notes, press conferences are key to managers lives. In career mode, currently, you can do a very basic version of this where you make a statement about either your club, the club you are playing or a player or the opposing manager. It is ok but it is nothing like being a real manager, you aren’t asked more questions, you aren’t able to respond and they are very rarely based on real current scenarios. What you say is always bland and unrelated to you in game situation. Fixing this would help a lot.

Mentors

In real life, older players are often given younger players to look after. This helps them to pass on wisdom and make the younger players better and more confident. In FIFA you cannot do this, which means there is no real reason to keep older players, as they offer little and you can sell them for reasonable amounts. Mentoring would give you a reason to keep them and make the game more realistic. It is very much a two birds one stone scenario if they decide to implement this.
