Ubisoft Motion Pictures announced today that they will be developing a film based upon Tom Clancy’s The Division.
If you read our review, you’ll know that we adored The Division and, if statistics are anything to go by, the rest of the world did too. Its opening week was the biggest ever for a new video game franchise. And in its first 24 hours of release, The Division sold more copies than any other title in Ubisoft’s history. With the announcement of the affiliated film it seems that things are only getting bigger.
The film is set to star Academy Award nominees Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. Ubisoft will develop the film with Gyllenhaal and Chastain’s respective production companies: Nine Stories Productions, and Freckle Films.
“Jessica and Jake [are] two of Hollywood’s most talented actors and [are] perfect creative collaborators to help bring Tom Clancy’s The Division to the big screen,” said Gerard Guillemot, the Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
While Ubisoft Motion Pictures are yet to release any of their film projects, the studio has some notable projects in the works: Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender and Splinter Cell with Tom Hardy, are just a few.
