Investigate The Unknown
UFOPHILIA is structured around missions set in remote areas marked by reported alien activity. Each location serves as a sandbox of paranormal possibility, and no two runs play out the same.
Your task unfolds in phases. First, select a mission site. Then begin identifying what kind of extraterrestrial entity is present, using a suite of specialist tools including EMF detectors, night vision cameras, heart rate monitors, microwave meters, and remote microphones.
But there’s a catch.
Overuse equipment and you risk escalating activity. Fail to narrow down the spawn zone and you could miss crucial evidence. And once Phase 4 hits, when the alien becomes visible, things get dangerous. That’s mostly because every alien behaves differently.
Nine Alien Types, Endless Variations
With nine distinct alien species, UFOPHILIA thrives on unpredictability. Some entities are curious. Others playful. Some are outright aggressive. Abductions are real threats, not scripted moments.
The spawn zones shift. The alien types rotate. Environmental phenomena change.
That randomness fuels replayability. The game even builds progression into the loop, awarding Roswell Points and rank-based titles – from “Forum Conspiracy Theorist” to the prestigious “Roswell Agent” – unlocking new tools and scenarios as you improve.
It’s a structured gameplay loop wrapped in paranormal tension.
A Concept That Hooks
In our 3/5 review of UFOPHILIA, we found plenty to admire:
“I like what UFOPHILIA is trying to achieve. The concept and gameplay loop are fun and addictive. There is a good range of aliens and a solid incentive to unlock new locations and equipment. However, the constant back-and-forth between the location and base is a tad annoying.”
That assessment captures the game well. The investigative mechanics and alien diversity provide strong hooks, while the mission structure keeps tension high. Some pacing quirks remain, but the core idea – identifying and photographing extraterrestrials under pressure – is undeniably compelling.
A Horror Experience Built On Observation
UFOPHILIA stands apart from traditional horror titles. You’re not armed for combat. You’re armed with detection equipment. Success comes from observation, analysis, and calculated risk.
Every mission becomes a question of nerve. Can you stay long enough to identify the threat? Can you photograph it before it reacts? Can you survive the encounter?
Available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Play Anywhere (through the Xbox Store), UFOPHILIA delivers a psychological horror experience that thrives on uncertainty.
The aliens are out there. And they know you’re looking for them.
