Full of puzzles and chock with humour, the tentatively titled Trails and Traces – The Tomb of Thomas Tew will give you the chance to uncover the most rich of treasures on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch – pirate treasures.

What’s another word for pirate treasure? Well, you could fire up Sea of Thieves, but chances are you’re going to find out in Trails and Traces – The Tomb of Thomas Tew, as Ratalaika Games and Because Because Games roll their classic point and click adventure to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Due to hit Steam at some point too, Trails and Traces – The Tomb of Thomas Tew is delightfully priced with just an upfront cash payment of £4.99 all that is required for you to get in on the action. And what action it is too – dropping us into 1695 as we join the titular Tew and his fellow pirates on board The Amity.  The thing is, as no doubt happened a hell of a lot in the 1600s, battle with others commenced, and Tew died.

Or did he? Well, that’s where you come in as James Labbett – detective explorer extraordinaire as you go about hunting down the secret of what exactly happened to Tew and his ship. You’re going to need all the sleuthing skills you can muster…

Inspired by the classics, working a point-and-click adventure, tapping up others for clues and fun, throwing in a ton of humour and listening in on an original soundtrack and jukebox mode, Trails and Traces – The Tomb of Thomas Tew seems to have a lot going for it. We’ll find out for sure in our review of the game on Xbox – keep a beady eye out for it.

If you’re sold though, get straight over to the Xbox Store and nail an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S download (yep, this is fully X|S badged and optimised), the PlayStation Store or the Nintendo eShop.

Game Description:

In 1695, Tew and his fellow pirates pursued a Mughal ship. His ship, The Amity, attacked the ship, the Fateh Muhammed. Tew was disemboweled by a cannon shot, and died instantly. Or did he? Present day. Detective James Labbett takes a missing persons case, which unexpectedly leads to an adventure of discovering the truth of what happened to the pirate Thomas Tew, but he isn’t the only one who has an interest… Use your sleuthing skill and any means necessary to uncover information.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
