Fireball 2
Fireball 2 – now on Xbox Series X”S

Prepare for an elegant yet intensely satisfying arcade-survival experience as Fireball 2 blasts onto Xbox Series X|S – and no, we don’t know what happened to Fireball 1!

Fireball 2, the latest creation from the stylish arcade masters at Radiangames has blasted onto Xbox Series X|S. Available right now exclusively for current-gen Xbox consoles, this visually spectacular game challenges you to dodge massive swarms and trigger explosive chain reactions for just ÂŁ5.79.

This one is not playable on Xbox One.

Strategic Swarm Survival: Weave, Boost, Bomb!

The premise of Fireball 2 is deceptively simple: take control of your powerful fireball and weave through a massive, ever-growing flood of enemies.

Your primary weapon isn’t direct fire, but rather the environment itself and strategically placed bombs. You’ll need to skilfully guide the enemy swarms towards these bombs, then trigger them – either directly or indirectly – to obliterate as many foes as possible in deeply satisfying chain reactions.

The controls should be easy to learn and while your boost is unlimited, using it constantly isn’t always the optimal strategy, as it forces you to move at maximum speed, causing the relentless flood of enemies to react and pursue you even faster.

It’s a crucial tool for daring escapes and precise positioning, rather than just a speed button.

Destroying enemies isn’t just for points; their sparkling remains coalesce to create Novas. Detonating a Nova unleashes a large explosion and, crucially, automatically upgrades your fireball – no tough choices needed, you simply become bigger, faster, AND tougher with each Nova unleashed.

If you manage to level up your fireball to its maximum power, every Nova you trigger then becomes an even more potent SuperNova. For players who exhibit patience and strategy, allowing two Novas to merge will form a Blackhole, granting a brief but invaluable period of invincibility, perfect for turning the tables or making a daring escape from an overwhelming situation.

A Modern Arcade Spectacle with Depth and Options

Fireball 2 truly aims to deliver a modern arcade spectacle, leveraging the power of the Xbox Series X|S to fill the screen with dazzling visuals. Prepare to witness up to 100,000 enemies at once, with over a million particles bringing the smooth motion and vibrant explosions to life.

Beyond the eye candy, there’s a surprising amount of variety. Fireball 2 offers two distinct gameplay modes: Normal Mode features smooth, more predictable enemy pursuit, encouraging fluid, sweeping motions as you master the flow of combat.

In contrast, Chaos Mode is a bit slower and more reactive; enemies are less aggressive in their chase but actively try to prevent you from reaching bombs, while also spawning based on your movements, demanding greater anticipation and risk-taking.

These modes can be tackled on two difficulty levels. Normal difficulty allows you to survive minor mistakes with relative ease, letting you ease into the action as the pressure slowly ramps up with each passing Wave (which also changes the world size and enemy spawn patterns).

Reach Wave 11, however, and you’ll unlock Hardcore Mode – a different beast entirely. This mode amps up both player and enemy speed and doubles the damage enemies inflict, transforming any mistake into a potential run-ending catastrophe.

Even better, you don’t have to face the flood alone. A second player can jump into the action at any time with local 2-player co-op.

Finally, an exponential combo-based scoring system encourages herding as many enemies as possible into a single bomb’s blast radius for massive scores. However, there’s a subtle trade-off: going for these huge scores reduces the number of Novas generated.

It’s up to your style of play to determine the perfect balance between high-scoring spectacle and long-term survivability, with all four difficulty and game mode combinations tracked separately on the leaderboards.
