The next chapter in the iconic, parkour-fueled zombie apocalypse saga has arrived, and this time, the greatest threat may be the one lurking inside you.
Dying Light: The Beast, the brand-new open-world action survival horror from developer and publisher Techland, has launched. This stunning new adventure is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with the Standard Edition priced at ÂŁ59.99.
Prepare to return to the role of Kyle Crane, who must now struggle to control a monstrous new power in a desperate quest for revenge.
A Survivor’s Revenge
Years of painful experiments have left their mark on Kyle Crane. After finally escaping the clutches of the Baron, he finds himself on the very edge of humanity, his DNA now a horrifying blend of human and zombie.
In Dying Light: The Beast, you must help Crane struggle to control his new, rage-fueled inner beast as he hunts for the man who did this to him. Your journey will take you to the beautiful, yet dangerous, valley of Castor Woods, a former tourist spot now overrun with the undead.
Half Beast, Half Survivor
The core of this new adventure is the unique ability to switch between two playstyles. You can fight as a human survivor, or you can give in to your rage and experience a fierce inner conflict that leads to the ultimate embrace of unstoppable, beast-like strength. This takes the raw savagery of the series’ combat to the extreme, allowing you to crush skulls, rip heads off, and tear enemies in half.
The signature feature of the Dying Light series returns. You’ll experience two vastly different gameplay loops that merge into one unforgettable whole. You can scavenge and explore the various biomes of Castor Woods by day, but you must always be mindful of the clock. When the sun sets, the true horrors come out, leaving you with only three choices: run, hide, or fight for your life.
The best-in-class, first-person parkour system is back and better than ever, allowing you to jump from rooftop to rooftop and climb over any obstacle. In a new twist, you can also take the wheel of a powerful off-road vehicle to plow through hordes of zombies and enjoy unparalleled freedom of traversal. You can even share the entire adventure with up to three friends in 4-player co-op.
Continuing a Legendary Legacy
The Dying Light franchise has a rich and celebrated history here at TheXboxHub. We’ve been fans since the very beginning, having looked back fondly to 2015 and what we consider one of the greatest zombie games ever, Dying Light. In our original review, we praised its seamless transition between the tense days and frantic nights.
The series then reached new heights with its sequel. In our glowing 4/5 review of Dying Light 2 Stay Human, we said that while it didn’t quite revolutionise the genre like the first, it was still “more than worthy of your time, patience and hope of staying human.” Dying Light: The Beast has some huge, blood-soaked shoes to fill.

“Dying Light is back, and I couldn’t be more proud of my team and the game we created. Their passion, dedication, and hard work have resulted in something truly great. This project taught us more than any before about the importance of staying true to the core elements of our IP. For players, it’s an exciting return to the roots of the series, and for us, we’re back on the right track!” – says PaweĹ‚ Marchewka, Techland CEO.
“The time has come. Castor Woods is now open for you to explore, and we couldn’t be more excited for you to experience what we’ve been building. We’ve pushed our parkour to new heights, crafted our most diverse open world yet, and made our combat more visceral than ever. Go ahead – tear through the infected by day and unleash your power. But when night falls, be careful. The Volatile horrors that hunt in the dark are more fearsome than you can imagine. Good night, and good luck.” – wishes Nathan Lemaire, Game Director.
“Dying Light: The Beast is our love letter to the series and to the incredible Dying Light community. Our players have stood with us through highs and lows, and our greatest ambition with this project was to deliver the game that our community truly deserves.
