Unrailed! brings crazy co-op action to Xbox One

unrailed normal level

It spent some time in Early Access on Steam, but now the wacky train-based co-op game Unrailed! is a fully fledged title on Xbox One, after previously dripping out onto PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. In Unrailed!, teamwork is more important than ever if you’re to succeed the tribulations ahead and retain your friendships.

Unrailed!, a quirky experience from Daedalic Entertainment (Edna & Harvey: The Breakout) and Indoor Astronaut, really does aim to put your friendship through the ultimate test. Whether on the same couch or via online multiplayer, up to four players must work together to navigate a train through dangerous blocky art styled terrains – avoiding wildlife and obstacles – to reach the next station safely. The key factors to overcoming the hazards within each environment are communication and cooperation; only then will you be equipped to handle overheating issues, fend off the pesky animals, and build new tracks. There’s even a setting inspired by Mars, which includes a mysterious entity that can shoot at you – how bizarre!

It’ll take efficient decision making and strategic planning otherwise your train will derail in no time, which makes Unrailed! all the more challenging. This is especially true in the team versus mode where it’s about building the longest track possible. Don’t worry if finding friends to play with you is a problem though, because the option to include bots will make going solo a real possibility.

Those wishing to hop aboard and get involved in the quirky co-op antics of Unrailed should stop off at the Xbox Store, where it’ll cost £15.74 for a ticket to ride. You can also find Unrailed! on the PS Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam. So, whichever platform you prefer, do let us know if you’re enjoying everything it has to offer by leaving a comment below. Keep an eye out for our full review too.
