The summer is in full swing but Xbox are not stopping to enjoy the sun with a few new releases lined up to hit the shelves in August. There may be only a few games arriving this month but it is still worth saving up your money and making a purchase.
Rare Replay – Xbox One
In recent years, developers Rare have not been up there with the big devs, only stopping to release an underdeveloped Kinect Sports Game or two. The real Rare games we all remember and love were back in the days of the original Xbox and Nintendo consoles. Games like Banjo-Kazooie and the infuriating Battletoads are key ones that come to mind. So, Rare have given the fans what they want, and it’s not another Kinect Sports. Instead we have a collection of all of Rare’s best titles, there to enjoy once again on your Xbox One.
30 games for Rare’s 30th anniversary… if you were a gamer 20 years ago what more can you ask for? 40 games you say? You’ll have to wait another ten years for that.
Why Should You Buy It? Rare at its very best on your Xbox One. That’s all that can be said. Happy Birthday Rare!
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – Xbox One
With all the massively hyped FPS’s out, a third-person shooter can struggle to shine through and sell. But the Gears of War series has done it. The action-packed, emotional at times, trigger-happy shooter started life back in 2006 and has impressed through the years with a 4th installment of the series soon to be coming over the horizon. And now you can replay the harrowing adventures of Marcus Fenix all over again on Xbox One.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition packs the first game in the franchise together along with that little special something…a multiplayer beta for Gears 4!
Why Should You Buy It? You must be insane to not want to replay one of the hottest shooters of the past decade on your Xbox One. The GoW 4 beta just rounds it all off.
Disney Infinity 3.0 – Xbox One & Xbox 360
Get ready to spend £100’s on small plastic cartoon character figures because Avalanche Software and Heavy Iron Studios are back with another title in the figure buying series Disney Infinity (yes, the noise you just heard was a million people sighing). The only real changes 3.0 bring to the table are a more complex combat system and a focus on the Star Wars franchise. Expect to have a huge collection of figures by next year though.
Why Should You Buy It? After the initial excitement, the unique genre that Disney Infinity and Skylanders adopt can become annoying, but in time, turn out quite enjoyable. Disney Infinity 3.0 looks to be the best game in the genre.
Dishonored: Definitive Edition – Xbox One
In my opinion Dishonored deserved its game of the year title in 2013, and because many people agree with me on this subject, Arkane Studios are releasing Dishonored: Definitive Edition – allowing you to play the game again on Xbox One. Whether you play stealthily, guns blazing or ghost-like, you are sure to enjoy avenging the death of the Empress as Corvo once again.
Why Should You Buy It? Dishonored has a game of the year award…why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to play it again?
A quiet month, especially if you game on the 360, but still a few new titles that you should be interested in. Let us know what you plan on picking up in the comments below.
Already have Rare and GoW on pre-order! I’m not a millionaire so Infinity (and Lego Dimensions) is out. Never did finish Dishonored on the 360 so I may get that too. Never enough time in the day for gaming…
