We knew it would be good, but we’re not sure anyone thought that a remastered version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 was actually going to be THAT good. But when it hit Xbox One, PS4 and PC back at the end of 2020, it wowed pretty much everyone who played it. Now though it’s getting set to move forward even faster, kickflipping and tricking its way to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
It’s obviously great that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 will be making an appearance on Nintendo Switch and when it releases later in 2021 will be sure to find a place in the hearts of Nintendo gamers. But here and now we’re on the cusp of something even better with full next-gen working of Pro Skater 1 & 2 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
March 26th 2021 is the date when this will occur and with it we’ll see Tony get a whole host of upgrades, including crisp 120 FPS at 1080p, native 4K at 60 FPS, spatial audio and more. High-fidelity atmospherics will also be added to the next-gen upgrade and this unique graphical feature will allow players to enjoy the experience of sharper dynamic shadows, reflections and lens flares, as well as enhanced skater textures and more on next-gen consoles. After seeing the old gen version deliver a faithful remastering of the iconic games, pushing out all the levels, skaters, tricks and challenges, we can’t wait to see what the next-gen options will bring.
As you would expect to hear, making the move from old to new-gen will be simple enough. Digital players can upgrade to the Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle with all the added features and this upgrade includes access to the secret skater Ripper (a.k.a. the infamous Powell-Peralta mascot), retro gear for Create-A-Skater mode, and retro skins for Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero and Rodney Mullen.
Additionally, Activision Blizzard will ensure that those who purchased the game on Xbox One and PS4 will be able to upgrade to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 at no cost (except in Japan) on March 26th. Full details of that upgrade can be found here.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is available right now from the likes of the Xbox Store and will hit Xbox Series X|S and PS5 come March 26th 2021. We’ll be sure to remind you when that time comes.
