Urban transport comes to life as TramSim: Console Edition stops on Xbox and PlayStation

Dovetail Games have a track record of nailing what is required of a simulation game, with the likes of their Train Sim World franchise continuing to chug along. Now comes the chance to work the tickets of the tram, as TramSim: Console Edition stops off on Xbox and PlayStation.

Previously available on PC, TramSim comes to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 today (there’s no Xbox One love here), as it brings urban transport to life like never before.

Put together by the creative minds at ViewApp, it’s with the power of Dovetail Games in which this one becomes a reality, as players discover the chance to immerse themselves in the streets of Vienna, Austria, as well as Munich, Germany. See, both of these iconic cities have been recreated with full on photorealism, as players get the chance to travel through stunning urban landscapes and take in the routes that are on offer.

If you’re a tram enthusiast, then you should know what to expect here. Both modern and retro vehicles are in place in TramSim: Console Edition, with the contemporary Flexity joining the Type E2 in Vienna, which first graced the city’s streets in 1978. In Munich, players will enter the cab of the unique R2.2b tram. A Deluxe Edition will also be available, containing additional content at Vienna Favoriten depot and the ULF (Ultra-Low-Floor) tram model.

We can’t pretend we know what that means, but we do love a Dovetail sim, and so will be dipping our toes into what TramSim: Console Edition has to offer at the earliest opportunity.

If you follow us onboard, then you should find gameplay that covers the basics, before ramping up the complexity. It’ll focus on learning the realistic controls of each tram, whilst negotiating the busy urban streets of each city before making you comfortable in the cab and allowing full use of the beautiful and historic European architecture in an environment that has been put together in Unreal Engine 5.

If that sounds like your bag, then TramSim: Console Edition is available in two flavours – Standard Edition form or that of the Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition costs £32.99 from the Xbox Store (remember, only playable on Xbox Series X|S), whilst Deluxe ramps it up to £44.99, adding in some ‘Deluxe Content’ in the form of the ULF Type Tram and the detailed Vienna Depot for good measure. Expect to find similar options on the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5.

We’ll run a review of TramSim: Console Edition on Xbox Series X|S when we can. Expect this one to fill out with more content as the months progress – at least that’s how Dovetail Games have continued to keep their other games fresh and vibrant.
