GOST of Time
GOST of Time – out now on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

In a glorious, absurd future where even time is subject to government regulations, getting your medication is a bit more complicated than a trip to the chemist. A new top-down action and puzzle game has arrived today that will have you working with your past selves to serve a greater purpose.

GOST of Time has launched on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. From developer IzHard and publisher Sometimes You, this quirky adventure is available right now for ÂŁ8.39.

Prepare for a game with 42 and more ways of using your own dead body in time travel, all wrapped up in a package of pixel violence and dark humor.

A Government-Approved Time-Clone

Welcome to a distant future where an elderly citizen requires vital medication. To get it, he acquires a government-approved Time-Clone device. The process is simple: he must clone himself, send the clone into a machine to solve a series of puzzles, retrieve the pills, and then travel through time to deliver them. You play as that clone.

You Are Your Best Ally and Worst Enemy

The core of GOST of Time is its unique time-traveling mechanic. Every time you go back in time, you’ll encounter your past self, who will repeat all of your previous actions exactly. You must work in tandem with these “ghosts” of your past attempts to bypass obstacles and solve puzzles. It’s a clever system where you are both your own best ally and, often, your own worst enemy.

A Fun, Flawed, and Unique Puzzler

We’ve already had the chance to get our hands on this quirky adventure. In our full 3.5/5 review of GOST of Time, we found a lot to like in its unique mechanics, but wished there was more of it:

Ultimately, GOST of Time is a fun game that is hampered by its short runtime and lack of refinement. What is there is an interesting and enjoyable game, but it left me wanting more. If you’re looking for a unique puzzle game and don’t mind the short run time and abrasive art style, then GOST of Time is certainly a game worth considering.

Key Features

  • Unique Time-Traveling Mechanics: Play and cooperate with your past selves to solve puzzles.
  • Absurdist Top-Down Action: Face challenges and bypass obstacles in a quirky, dark-humored world.
  • Collect Ancient Artifacts: Discover relics from the “Old Era.”
  • A Unique Tone: A game filled with hemoglobin, pixel violence, and dark humour.

Your purpose is clear, and your past is always right there with you.

If you’re looking for a unique and interesting puzzle game with a truly bizarre premise, GOST of Time is ready to be cloned onto your console right now. There’s an Xbox Series X|S Optimised edition, and another that plays nicely on Xbox One. Further, find PlayStation and Nintendo Switch drops on the usual stores.

GOST of Time Description

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
