Excited for the launch of Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong in May? You’d do well to check out the latest trailer for the game, as the focus drops onto the RPG side of things.
Revealed at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase by NACON and Big Bad Wolf Studio is a new video for Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. The game is due to drop onto PC and consoles on May 19th 2022, with the latest trailer giving insight and focus into the rather deep looking RPG mechanics of the game.
In this adaptation of the pen and paper game, players of Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong take control of three heroes with their own character sheet. Through their choices, they will shape the stats of their characters and by utilising their Skills, it is possible to pick a lock, intimidate an NPC or make more efficient deductions based on hints. The higher the mastery level of a Skill, the more possibilities players will have.
There’s more though and alongside these Skills, the heroes also have vampiric powers, known as Disciplines. Galeb is the elder of the three protagonists, and can use Fortitude to withstand physical assaults and NPC Disciplines used against him. Meanwhile, you’ll discover that Emem – stylish queen of the night – makes the most of Celerity to reach inaccessible areas. Leysha, hyper-sensitive and followed by her daughter Halsey, can conceal her presence with Obfuscate, upgradable via experience points to even allow for hiding physical objects from prying eyes.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will have you customising these character sheets, working with the numerous options at hand. Focusing on one single playstyle is more than doable, helping you develop Talents – which are permanent bonuses. The more you use a Skill or a Discipline though, the higher your chance of success will be. You’ll need to be aware though… traits are positive or negative effects influenced by the success or failure of your actions, or impacted by certain decisions.
There’s more though and NPCs wioll also have their own character sheets; each with strengths and weaknesses. When players use Skills or Disciplines during interactions with them, the NPCswill defend with their stats. Inspired by the pen and paper experience, a die roll will decide success or failure in case of a tie.
With more than fifteen different endings for the main characters and the fate of Boston’s Camarilla, each Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong player will no doubt be found experiencing their own adventure in this unique Narrative RPG.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will be available on PC though the Epic Games Store and consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5) on May 19th 2022.
