The pinnacle of 3D fighting is about to get a major new upgrade with the arrival of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage.
During the prestigious EVO Vegas 2025 fighting game tournament, SEGA officially announced Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage. This definitive new version of the legendary fighter is set to launch digitally on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on October 30th, 2025.
The Next Stage of Evolution
Revealed with a brand-new trailer, World Stage is more than just an update; it’s a significant evolution of the Virtua Fighter 5 experience, introducing a brand-new single-player mode, a new playable character, and crucial online improvements like rollback netcode and planned cross-play support.
Virtua Fighter has had a long and celebrated history, and this new VR5 R.E.V.O. World Stage edition is poised to be its ultimate form. It builds upon the foundations of Ultimate Showdown and the PC-exclusive R.E.V.O., bringing all the improvements and new content to a wider audience on console.
What’s New on the World Stage?
This new edition is packed with new features and content that will excite both seasoned veterans and newcomers to the franchise.
For the first time, players can embark on a brand-new single-player quest to become the ultimate fighter in the World Stage mode. This new journey will have you challenging a host of powerful rivals as you progress, unlocking a wealth of new customisation items along the way.
In a brilliant touch of community engagement, SEGA is even allowing fans to submit their own player names to appear as rivals in this mode via the official Virtua Fighter Discord server.
The Enigmatic Dural Becomes Playable
The series’ enigmatic final boss, Dural, will be added to the game’s roster as a fully playable character for the first time since Final Showdown. This paid DLC will be available at launch, giving players control of the ultimate fighting machine.
But there’s more, mostly in the form of online and training improvements…
- Rollback Netcode and Cross-Play: The game will launch with the all-important rollback netcode for a smooth online experience, and SEGA has also confirmed that cross-platform play is planned, allowing Xbox and PlayStation players to battle it out.
- Training Mode Enhancements: The training mode is receiving key improvements, giving players better tools to hone their skills and master their favourite characters.
