We’ve previously seen Wales Interactive deliver the likes of The Complex, Late Shift and The Bunker to console and PC gamers, and very soon we’ll be seeing the hugely interesting Maid of Sker launching. Today though Wales Interactive are back and announcing a brand new interactive romantic comedy, with Five Dates due to launch on console and PC.
Set for release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in Q4 2020, Wales Interactive’s next live-action event will be that of Five Dates. Starring Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) and Georgia Hirst (Vikings), this will see us given the chance to follow Vinny, a millennial from London, who has joined a dating app for the first time while living in lockdown.
From there, well, the usual dating app fun takes place and from a choice of five interested women the player can control who Vinny video dates and how he interacts with their very different personalities. We’ll see the interactive story in Five Dates unfolding in a multitude of different directions, each exploring whether compatibility, chemistry and connection are still possible in a world where physical touch is no longer an option.
It’s not just Gill and Hirst who star though and alongside those we will find Marisa Abela – lead in Lena Dunham’s upcoming BBC project Industry – Taheen Modak (co-lead in Maisie Williams’ new Sky show Two Weeks To Live), and Sinead Harnett (UK singer/influencer) in the cast.
And as you would expect, in a world of social distancing, it makes these live-action affairs all the trickier to handle. Those behind Five Dates have the bases covered though and the cast have had iPhones and sound equipment shipped directly to them, with director and writer Paul Raschid – he behind The Complex – is set to steer filming remotely.
Sold on the back of being a fast-turnaround rom-com project that has been conceptualized and developed during lockdown, we’ll be sure to bring you further updates as to how Five Dates is rolling in the build up to release in Q4 2020. Until then though, the Maid of Sker will just have to sort you out.
