Heart of the Forest - the official keyart showing some of the horrors within
Heart of the Forest – now on console and mobile

Psychological horror meets interactive storytelling in Heart of the Forest, a new narrative-driven experience from Wales Interactive and developer Trapped Predator.

Launching today (right now, in fact) across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, this one comes in for around ÂŁ9.99.

Set deep within the legendary Black Forest, this interactive horror FMV story blends folklore, trauma, and survival into a branching narrative where every decision matters – and not everyone will make it out alive.

And with Wales Interactive involved, a team that is widely considered the kings of the FMV and interactive storytelling space, expectations are naturally high for this chilling new release.

A Journey Into Darkness

In Heart of the Forest, a hiking trip through Germany’s infamous Black Forest quickly turns into something far more sinister. A group of students find themselves trapped under the influence of a vengeful spirit, forced to confront not only supernatural danger but also their own fears and past traumas.

This is very much a choice-driven psychological horror, where survival depends on the decisions you make across multiple character perspectives. As tensions rise and corruption spreads through the forest, relationships fracture, secrets surface, and the line between reality and nightmare begins to blur.

Inspired by German folklore and myth, the game leans heavily into atmosphere and storytelling, placing emotional stakes alongside supernatural horror.

Multiple Perspectives, One Nightmare

Rather than following a single protagonist, Heart of the Forest shifts between different characters, allowing players to shape the story from multiple viewpoints. Each decision influences the group’s fate, creating branching paths and multiple possible outcomes.

That focus on narrative choice is exactly where Wales Interactive tends to shine. Known for interactive storytelling experiences that blur the line between film and game, their involvement signals a strong emphasis on cinematic storytelling and player-driven drama.

This time, though, the horror comes not just from what lurks in the forest, but from what lurks inside the characters themselves.

Wales Interactive Returns With Another Narrative Experience

Wales Interactive has built a strong reputation for delivering interactive narrative titles across multiple genres (like in Dead Reset), and Heart of the Forest continues that tradition with a darker, folklore-inspired direction.

This marks the debut project from Trapped Predator, and it arrives with an emphasis on emotional storytelling, branching decisions, and psychological tension rather than action-heavy horror.

If you enjoy narrative horror experiences where choices carry weight and atmosphere drives the experience, this could be one to take in.

Enter The Forest – If You Dare

Heart of the Forest is available now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, priced at ÂŁ9.99. The Xbox Store awaits.

The question is simple: who will survive the forest, and who will become part of it?
