It’s an FMV/adventure experience like no other, and this summer Wales Interactive will be bringing the madness of Headspun to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC gamers across the globe. The unique thing about it? It’s all set inside the human brain.

In collaboration with Superstring, Wales Interactive have today confirmed that Headspun will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC this summer, delivering a rather strange take on the FMV adventure.

After waking from a five week coma, Theo Kavinsky finds his life in disrepair, and with no memory of the accident, it’s up to Ted and Teddy – the conscious and subconscious voices in his head – to work out what has happened, and put his life back on track.

This will all come about by combining live-action storytelling with elements of adventure, as Headspun puts us in the shoes of Ted: the Director of Cortex – the rational, intelligent voice in Theo’s head. But there’s a problem and what Ted thinks is best for Theo isn’t necessarily a view shared by Teddy, the primal, subconscious voice. In the process of repairing Cortex, re-hiring a team and finding out what happened the night of the accident, Ted and Teddy must therefore cast aside their differences and learn to work together.

Filmed on location in Rodwell House – a working hospice in Surry, UK – in January 2018, all with the help of a small cast and crew, the live action scenes were filmed by Pinyata Film, who have helped direct the FMV side of the project.

This should allow Headspun to deliver an experience that is all about recovery, discovery, and the ongoing battle between logic and emotion, with features including:

  • Rich FMV story-telling
  • Branching dialogue – sway the outcome of your interactions
  • Rebuild Cortex – earn Neuros to hire staff and commission renovations
  • Retreive Lost Memories and work out what happened the night of Theo’s accident
  • Original Synthwave Score from Soho Loop

If you wish to know more, then the trailer below should be able to sort you out. Give it a watch and let us know your thoughts and comments by dropping into the section below. We will of course keep you firmly updated as to the progress of Headspun on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC as the weeks and months move forward.

With Wales Interactive being the FMV kings though, it should be well worth keeping an eye on.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
