Despite never being able to shake off the need to play Call of Duty or Rocket League, I must admit that a calm walking simulator can be just what I need. In fact, What Remains of Edith Finch is one of my favourite titles of all time: can Caligo satisfy the same itch?
Journey of a Lifetime
Now available on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, Caligo released on PC all the way back in 2017, but the 950 Steam reviews have given the title an average ‘Mostly Positive’ score, so developers Krealit must be doing something right.
If you are looking for a short but captivating walking simulator, in which there’s not a huge amount of gameplay, but a hopefully very compelling story, Caligo might be for you.
As you progress through this admittedly quite trippy title, what you make of Caligo will differ from person to person. Caligo is – according to Krealit – the ‘darkness everyone descends into one way or another’, but how you interpret it will be very personal.
Will your adventure through Caligo be one of joy and ecstasy, or will it be one where you face your horrors? With a fully voiced cast of characters aiding you on your journey, you’ll soon understand yourself better once Caligo has been completed and you’ve made your all-important choices.

Caligo is the darkness everyone descends into one way or another, and to each of us it’s something different. For some it’s a short but exciting adventure, some will see it as a place to relax.
