Want Wordle on your Xbox, PlayStation or Switch? Wordbreaker by POWGI is here

There’s little chance you’ve not heard of Wordle. After the word-breaking brain tester went viral across the global, drew in the masses and was then sold for millions, it’s easy to see why the word-grid phenomenon became a massive hit. But for gamers it was disappointing; it’s not a game that worked particularly well with Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. However Wordbreaker by POWGI is – and it’s about the closest thing you’re going to get to having Wordle on your console. 

The latest …by POWGI title to come out of the Lightwood Games team, Wordbreaker by POWGI is quite obviously the Wordle clone you need in your life. It follows on from the likes of Flowers by POWGI, Alphset by POWGI or Just a Phrase by POWGI to once more deliver a stellar word-fuelled teaser. 

Wordbreaker by POWGI hits Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S tomorrow, with a PS4 and PS5 launch happening today (15th Mar) and a Nintendo Switch dropped planned for a couple of days time (17th Mar). 

As you can probably guess from the screenshots, this is a code-breaker in which you’ll need to fill the grid given to you, working with the letters of the alphabet and placing them in the correct slots. Do well and Lightwood Games will reward you – with a terrible joke. Standard Lightwood fare. 

With five-letter words aplenty and Lightwood having honed the whole word puzzler to great effect with their other … by POWGI games, there’s a chance that Wordbreaker could well be the best of them all. And with the huge appeal of Wordle still kicking around across the globe, this may even be a gateway puzzler to the other series titles, particularly as this one does away with words that deliver international spelling variations.
