War Robots – smashing onto Xbox

After years of dominating the mobile battlefield, War Robots has finally deployed onto Xbox. The long-running free-to-play tactical shooter is now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, bringing its giant mech warfare to Microsoft’s consoles.

Already boasting more than 325 million players worldwide across mobile, PC and PlayStation, the Xbox release gives a whole new audience the opportunity to discover why this multiplayer shooter has remained so popular for so many years. Better still, there’s no need for a Game Pass subscription – simply download it and jump straight into the action.

Giant Mechs, Tactical Battles And Endless Customisation

Rather than relying purely on fast reflexes, War Robots encourages players to think carefully about positioning, teamwork and loadouts. Every match throws teams into large-scale online battles where controlling objectives and making smart tactical decisions can be just as important as landing the finishing blow.

The variety on offer is one of the game’s biggest strengths. More than 50 unique robots are available, each bringing different abilities and battlefield roles. Whether you prefer charging into combat with heavy firepower or supporting teammates from range, there’s plenty of room to develop your own style.

That flexibility extends even further through deep customisation, allowing you to mix and match weapons, modules, drones and pilots to create increasingly powerful builds as you progress.

A Proven Multiplayer Hit Arrives On Xbox

War Robots isn’t a new name by any means. Since launching on other platforms, it has steadily built an enormous community, with MY.GAMES confirming more than 325 million players have already taken part in its mech battles.

The Xbox version has been designed specifically for console play while retaining the same competitive multiplayer experience that helped establish the game elsewhere. Multiple PvP modes are available alongside PvE content, with players able to join clans, compete in special events and continue upgrading their growing mech collection.

And those looking to speed up progression can also purchase optional D-Gem packs, available in 500 (ÂŁ4.19), 2,500 (ÂŁ20.99) and 7,500 (ÂŁ62.49) denominations.

A New Beginning For The War Robots Series On Xbox

Xbox players may remember War Robots: Frontiers, which arrived on console previously. In our War Robots: Frontiers review, we found plenty to enjoy in the mech combat itself, although server issues ultimately held that game back.

This latest release takes a different route, bringing the original experience that made the franchise such a global success directly to Xbox for the very first time. With millions of players already proving its staying power elsewhere, it’ll now be interesting to see how quickly the Xbox community embraces the battlefield.

You can download War Robots from the Xbox Store today, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S completely free of charge.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
