WARHAMMER SURVIVORS - KEY ART as the game is confirmed for console
WARHAMMER SURVIVORS – Coming to console

The survivors-like genre isn’t slowing down anytime soon – and now it’s heading straight into the far future as Warhammer Survivors is coming to console.

Warhammer Survivors has been officially confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch (including Switch 2) and PC via Steam, bringing its chaotic, horde-blasting gameplay into the brutal worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar later this year.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when relentless bullet hell action meets chainswords, Space Marines and endless Ork hordes… well, you’re about to find out.

At A Glance

  • Game: Warhammer Survivors
  • Release Window: 2026 (TBC)
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2
  • Genre: Roguelite survivors / bullet hell
  • Playable Universes: Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar

A Survivors Game With A Warhammer Twist

At its core, Warhammer Survivors sticks to the now-proven formula – drop players into a battlefield, throw overwhelming numbers of enemies at them, and let skill, upgrades and positioning determine survival.

What sets it apart is its setting.

Instead of generic monsters, you’ll be fighting through iconic Warhammer battlefields, wielding familiar weapons and stepping into the boots of legendary characters pulled from across the franchise’s vast lore. It’s a natural fit. After all, few universes are better suited to endless waves of enemies than Warhammer’s war-torn worlds.

Legendary Heroes Join The Fight

The latest reveal brought a fresh batch of playable characters into the spotlight, including some heavy hitters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Among them:

  • Marneus Calgar, wielding the devastating Gauntlets of Ultramar
  • Commissar Sebastian Yarrick, a legendary figure of Armageddon
  • Knight-Commander Pask, commanding a tank capable of flattening enemies
  • Chaplain Fo’Baran of the Salamanders
  • The Catachan Jungle Fighters’ legendary warrior

They join previously announced characters like Malum Caedo from Boltgun, ensuring a roster packed with personality, power, and very different playstyles.

Weapons That Feel Right At Home

No survivors game lives or dies without its arsenal, and Warhammer Survivors looks well-equipped. Expect a mix of standard and evolved weapons, including:

  • Power Fists that sweep through enemies in brutal arcs
  • Exploding dice attacks that deal damage based on rolls
  • Orbital bombardments that rain destruction from above
  • Emperor’s Wrath, a burning aura that punishes nearby foes

As with the genre’s best, these weapons can be upgraded and evolved, turning modest attacks into screen-clearing spectacles.

Enter The Orks – And A Proper Boss Fight

Of course, it wouldn’t be Warhammer without the Orks.

A new Ork Stronghold stage introduces a full faction of enemies, from swarming grots to charging Warbikers and explosive Squigs. And leading them? None other than Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka, stepping in as the game’s first Extremis Boss.

Expect chaotic patterns, overwhelming reinforcements, and a fight that demands more than just upgraded gear to survive.

Why This Genre Still Works

The survivors formula has proven incredibly addictive over the last few years, and there’s a good reason for that. In our 5/5 review of Vampire Survivors, we described it as “a gameplay hook that refuses to let go” – a simple concept elevated by smart progression and constant reward.

Warhammer Survivors looks set to follow that same path, but with a universe that naturally amplifies everything – bigger enemies, bigger weapons, and far bigger stakes.

A Perfect Match Of Chaos And Carnage

There’s something undeniably fitting about this pairing. The survivors genre thrives on excess; on throwing impossible odds at players and daring them to push further. Warhammer, meanwhile, has always been about scale, spectacle and relentless conflict. Put the two together, and you get something that feels like it was always meant to exist.

When Warhammer Survivors launches later this year, expect noise, chaos, and more dakka than you can reasonably handle. And honestly, that sounds exactly what we need.
