Watch almost an hour’s worth of uncut Vampyr gameplay with developer commentary

If you’ve been chomping at the bit for more footage of DONTNOD Entertainment’s upcoming narrative-driven action-RPG Vampyr, then today’s your lucky day with just under an hour’s worth of gameplay to peruse!

Last week, the developers streamed Vampyr, discussing the game and answering questions from the gaming community. That video is available for you to watch HERE and features gameplay taken from around six hours into the story, showing off a whole host of the parts that make up the citizen and district ecosystems of Vampyr. Players can choose to kill or spare any and all citizens present in the 1918 version of London, using the blood of those sacrificed by protagonist Jonathan Reid to evolve some deadly new powers. As a doctor, one can also decide to heal the inhabitants by examining them and crafting any medicines needed. The quality of life for each citizen and their district can be improved by curing illnesses, leading to their blood being more powerful and tastier in the process.

No matter how tempting their blood is, you’ll have to balance the risk of killing and healing to ensure entire districts don’t crumble as a result. There are four mean districts, each of which has its own health gauge and that’s affected by the number of healthy, sick and dead citizens residing in that area. When the gauge drops, prices in the shops increase, people are more likely to get ill and life within the district generally deteriorates. Should it get below critical condition, the district is gone for good, lost to the dastardly enemies. Lose all four districts and that’s a huge blow with no access to shops, side quests and lovely inhabitants to feed off, but regardless, the game’s story can still be completed. The ending will give you exactly what you deserve for your recklessness though…

Contain that bloodlust of yours for just a little longer as DONTNOD Entertainment’s Vampyr releases on 5th June for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
