Wavetale splashes down onto Xbox

wavetale

A heartwarming platforming adventure with a twist, Wavetale has today splashed down onto Xbox consoles.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, some twenty-four hours on from the same game hitting PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC, Wavetale from Thunderful places you in the sodden shoes of a teenage girl, Sigrid.

Sigrid lives on a little island with her grandmother, but as the world around them begins to collapse, decaying away, this girl’s life changes up. See, she discovers a shadow, one that grants her the power to literally walk on water – and it’s with that ability in which the story of Wavetale unfolds.

Exploring the lands around you is the name of the game in Wavetale, as it uncovering a host of the darkest secrets. Do so and you’ll discover a tale of loss and reconciliation playing out, helped along by other islanders you meet; fishermen, hermits, even pirates.

For many though it’ll be the chance to surf the waves of Wavetale, making the most of Sigrid’s abilities in order to begin to understand what is going on. It’s a game that we have enjoyed, extremely fond of the story it tells, the chance to go wave riding and the draw of the uber relaxing gameplay. Our full review of Wavetale on Xbox Series X|S will explain more

“Wavetale is set to make a huge splash with its charming story and mysterious secrets,” said Petter Magnusson, the Co-Producer of Wavetale. “I can’t wait for everyone to dive headfirst into the fun and try it on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC.”

Wavetale is on the Xbox Store right now, sitting behind a £24.99 price tag. It’s playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

You’ll also find Wavetale on PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Game Description:

Explore the open sea and the decaying archipelago of Strandville in Wavetale, a story-driven action-adventure game introducing you to fed-up fishermen, secretive hermits—and maybe a pirate or two. Traverse calm waters and surging waves as Sigrid, a young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that provides her with the power to walk on water. Speed through the waves, swing yourself from housetops with your net, and defeat monstrous enemies to save the citizens of the islands. All with a little help from the shadows down below—and your cranky grandmother.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
