The middle of the month sees the latest Xbox Games With Gold titles stripped of their price tags to become downloadable for nothing on Xbox One and Xbox 360, but in regards We Were Here, we see the game debuting on Xbox One for free. Oh, and to celebrate the freeness, the sequel has got itself a release date too.

We Were Here is now available to purchase and download on Xbox One, with a £4.19 price tag attached to the standard game. However, should you be one of the clever folk who have a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription to hand then you can download the game right now for free.

A fully cooperative title that sees two players trapped inside an abandoned castle, We Were Here on Xbox One works as an escape room type experience, ensuring you and a partner have to work together to understand, and complete, a variety of puzzles

We spoke of We Were Here in depth during our latest podcast show, and so if you wish to know more about it, would do well to give that a little listen. Alternatively, our full review is on the horizon and should be live within the next few days – keep an eye out for it.

Basically put though, working in tandem with a friend or stranger via the Xbox Live system is what makes We Were Here work, and by solving a ton of puzzles will eventually, hopefully, see you making your way to safety.

If you like what you find with the free launch of We Were Here on Xbox One then you may well also be pretty hyped for the release of We Were Here Too on Xbox One. Announced for a 2nd October launch, this will come with a slightly higher price tag attached, but it will bring all manner of extra cooperative adventure, as you once again get the opportunity to become fully immersed in the We Were Here series. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as that game arrives on the Xbox Store – although you can get your money in and pre-order it right now.

Should you wish to know more about the Xbox Games With Gold titles for September 2019 then our in-depth article will sort you out. Basically though, if you’ve got a friend to hand or you like a bit of a puzzler, then We Were Here on Xbox One should be taken in immediately. Just flash your Xbox Live Gold membership at the Xbox Store door and you’ll be able to get access for free – at least until the middle of October.

Game Description:

Lost in a frozen wasteland and split up from your partner inside an abandoned castle, the only possession you have left is a walkie-talkie with a familiar voice on the other end. Can the two of you find your way out in time? We Were Here is the pilot episode in a series of cooperative standalone puzzle adventures. Two players are trapped inside an abandoned castle, with Player One confined to a small secluded part of the castle as Player Two roams the halls trying to find Player One. Every room challenges your wits and ability to communicate clearly, using only your voice. Are you ready to find out how well you and your friends work together? If you like living on the edge, try playing it with a complete stranger!
