Yet again we have been treated to another week full of interesting Xbox news stories, review thoughts and glorious videos. But which of the numerous articles hitting our pages over the last week have been our favourites? Which from the 10th – 16th April 2016 shouldn’t you miss?

Well…

Sunset Overdrive now available for free on Xbox One thanks to Games With Gold

We kick things off with a free game – and this time round it’s not just ‘any old free game’. This is Sunset Overdrive.

The Xbox Games With Gold scheme for April 2016 has already been classed by many as the best GWG month so far, with four brilliant games being given to all Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners for nothing. Dead Space, The Wolf Among Us and Saints Row IV are all stunning titles in their own right, but it has to be the Xbox exclusive, Sunset Overdrive that tops the bill. And guess what? It’s free right now. Go grab it!

First gameplay trailer & new release date for Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter unveiled

We’re looking forward to the upcoming release of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, if only because it promises to bring something a little more relaxing than the usual fast paced, pretty manic Xbox One titles that currently fill the Games Store. Dropping this past week has been a brand new release date (don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too long) and the first gameplay trailer, showing off what is to come.

If you were sitting on the fence previously, surely it’s enough to tempt you in to a full on purchase?

This Is The Police laying down the law this summer on Xbox One, PS4 and PC

We love the ID@Xbox scheme and this summer looks to be another jam packed few months full of new and exciting ID titles. One such game looks very interesting indeed. This Is The Police will be laying down the law when it releases later this year.

A game of choice, strategy and adventure, This Is The Police sees you taking on the role of Jack Boyd, the retiring Police Chief who has a few decisions to make. Does he spend his last few days in charge of the city’s force by taking bribes? Does he go all out and sell weapons to the gangs that roam the streets? Whatever you make him do, just be sure he manages to pick up that big old retirement cheque! he’s only in it for the money.

The gameplay trailer that accompanies the news is a must watch.

Quantum Break Review

It’s quite possibly the most exciting title to hit Xbox One for a little while. Blurring the lines between videogame and full on TV show, Quantum Break hits our consoles with much hype to live up to. Does it become a must play game?

Well, our full review went live this last week and in it James tells us not just about the gameplay and the TV show, but also picks up on the good things and unfortunately the bad as he goes in deep with Remedy’s latest blockbusting game. With a rich history behind them, and plenty of development time in place, Quantum Break really should be vying for a Game of The Year nomination at the very least.

Have a read of our review and see what he thinks!

Let’s Play Gear Gauntlet on Xbox One!

We’ve been excited about Gear Gauntlet making its way to Xbox One for over a year now. Well finally it’s here and we just had to check it out.

We leave you this week with a video – one in which we play through the first load of levels found within Gear Gauntlet on Xbox One. Thanks to the power of Twitch (you can follow us here), watch as we battle on through a number of gauntlets, hitting the green, yellow, red and blue tiles as we do so. You may even find us having to rage quit at a couple of points. That isn’t a bad thing though – it’s just what the game does!

Hope you enjoy and will be sure to catch you next week!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
