Whenever there’s a new Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale going on, it’s sometimes tricky to decipher the bargains from those that you should steer clear of. Fortunately, we’re here to take a look for you and pick out the best of the bunch on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Just like last week, the sheer numbers of deals doesn’t tell the whole story as a lot of them are add-ons but hidden within are a couple of must haves. There’s also a few that should be avoided, so these are the ones that stand out for the week of 16th-22nd August 2016…
Grab – Back to the Future: The Game – 75% off – £3.74 – Xbox 360
It’s not often we recommend going back to the last generation, but we can make an exception for Marty!
The saving is a very good one for Back to the Future: The Game, a point and click adventure by the folks over at Telltale. Set six months after the end of Back to the Future III, Marty McFly goes on a journey in to 1931 and befriends a teenage Doc Brown as he tries to save the 1985 version of Doc from death. With a decent story, really good voice acting and plenty of hours of gaming to be done, £3.74 seems like a great deal.
Grab – In Between – 25% off – £7.19 – Xbox One
Although it’s not the biggest of discounts, we’d happily recommend In Between at full price with its unique take on the puzzle genre. The game puts you in the mind of a cancer patient as he goes through all the stages of having to deal with such a diagnosis. How the developers transformed these stages into levels for a puzzling platform was great with new features being adding from time to time.
It’s an emotional journey that provides a wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack to go alongside an interesting, albeit grim, story.
Tempter – Battlefield 4/Battlefield Hardline – 85% off – £3.75 each – Xbox One
If you’re an Xbox Live Gold member and love shooters, both of the Battlefield games are an absolute steal. Battlefield 4 appeals to those who fancy a go at the army life, whilst Hardline focuses on that classic battle between cops and robbers; with a modern spin, of course. We usually bang on about EA Access, but should none of the other EA titles interest you then purchasing an epic shooter with huge maps and massive team battles is a bit of a no brainer.
Leave – Gears of War Ultimate Edition: Deluxe Weapon Skin Pack – 67% off – £7.92 – Xbox One
We were going to have a pop at the FIFA 16 price, considering the whole EA Access Vault scenario, or the still expensive GTA bundles, but you should already know better. So we went with the Gears Skin Pack.
It doesn’t matter that you get every single Lancer and Gnasher skin for Gears of War Ultimate Edition to use in multiplayer matches; it’s a waste of money. You could grab a decent game or two for the price of these skins and they are only visual add-ons, it’s not like you’ll be tearing those Locusts apart any quicker.
As always, if you do decide to grab something, we’d love it if you could tell us what you pick up in the comments below. You may wish to save even more cash as well, and heading on over to CDKeys and picking up some cheap Xbox Live credit first should be pretty high on your agenda.
