Another week goes by and a new batch of prices get slashed on the Xbox Games Store for the weekly Deals With Gold sale. Which of these so called bargains are actually worth picking up though? We take a look at the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale for 19th-25th July, 2016 in a bid to help you decipher the hits from the misses.

This may be the first week where we don’t highlight an EA game and explain how brilliant EA Access is, simply because there’s a far worse offering to avoid in this sale.

Grab – Destiny: The Taken King – Legendary Edition 50% – £27.50 – Xbox One

Surely this is a no brainer for a well received game in Destiny, bundled together with Expansion I and Expansion II, plus The Taken King content… all for under £30? You’d be mad to turn it down, especially when The Taken King alone brings an actual and enjoyable story to the table as well as strategically different enemies to encounter. There’s just so much more to do within this single expansion and the only thing that would’ve put punters off the full package is now a moot point – the price.

Grab – Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered 33% – £5.35 – Xbox One

So, it isn’t a massive discount, but the original price wasn’t an awful lot to shed out in the first place.

Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered takes a simple to learn, yet rather unique concept of finding and spelling out words to do damage to enemies on your quest for pizza. It isn’t a standard RPG but it thrives on the sheer amount of content included and its educational edge. We were highly recommending it at full price and that should be convincing enough, any discount makes for a worthwhile purchase.

Learning can be fun!

Avoid – Grand Theft Auto V & Megalodon Shark Cash Card Bundle 35% – £101.99 – Xbox One

We were absolutely gobsmack at this attempt of a deal. And without discrediting GTA V, it’s a joke to be even considered a bargain. There’s no way, in good conscience, we’d be able to suggest ever paying over 100 quid for a game that’s a year old and a wad of in-game cash which could be earned with a little bit of effort. Have we ever seen a more ridiculous offer? Probably not.

Should you want to play Grand Theft Auto V that badly, just go grab the game on its own and save yourself a huge chunk of cash.

Well, that’s all from us. We hope you spend your money wisely and be sure to let us know what you do pick up.

If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale for this week right here.

As always, if you do decide to grab something, we’d love it if you could tell us what you pick up in the comments below. You may wish to save even more cash as well, and heading on over to CDKeys and picking up some cheap Xbox Live credit first should be pretty high on your agenda.
