Whenever there’s a new Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale going on, it’s sometimes hard to decide which are really bargains and which you should avoid. Fortunately, we’re here to take a look for you and pick out the deals that are instant buys or better left alone on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Unlike last week, the deals aren’t cluttered with add-ons like shortcuts for lazy gamers, but hidden amongst the pack are a couple of must haves. There was also one that immediately caught our eye to go nowhere near, and so these are the deals that stand out for the week of 23rd-29th August 2016…
Grab – Elite Dangerous Standard Edition – 35% off – £12.99 – Xbox One
Are you jealous of a certain space exploration game just released on that other console which can’t be named? Well, no need to feel that green envy anymore, with the original badass space odyssey game being on sale – Elite Dangerous. It will make you lose hundreds of hours in a world of interstellar pirates, trade and journeying.
We really enjoyed Elite Dangerous when it was first released, giving it the upper-end of a 4 star rating. Be prepared to commit to the journey wholeheartedly, and let’s hope you can dock the spaceship better than we did.
Grab – Letter Quest / Three Fourths Home / Paranautical Activity Bundle – 60% off – £8.00 – Xbox One
Three games for the price of one. What more can you ask for? It’s cheap as chips and worth taking a punt on this absolute mix of games.
Letter Quest is an unusual hybrid of an RPG and Scrabble which has you fighting the likes of evil bunnies, with only the power of your vocabulary. We liked it a lot and gave it 4 stars in our review, so we’d probably suggest buying that by itself anyway. But when you throw in the unique Three Fourths Home, with its storybook experience that is unlike anything out there on the market, then this is a cracking deal. Oh, it includes Paranautical Activity too… but let’s be honest, it’s the weakest offering of the three.
Still, well worth the money.
Leave – Farming Simulator 15 – 67% off – £13.20
There must be a demand for these types of games, as there are two franchises out competing for the farming simulator market. Raise chickens, plan budgets and destroy your livelihood in a depressingly slow, boring experience that’ll make you want to never go to the countryside again.
Only one of us had the ‘pleasure’ of reviewing Farming Simulator 15, but we all felt the pain and it doesn’t matter how low that price goes, we can’t recommend anyone buys this. Go and pay for a tour of a real farm instead, it’ll be miles better… possibly.
As always, if you do decide to grab something, we’d love it if you could tell us what you pick up in the comments below. You may wish to save even more cash as well, and heading on over to CDKeys and picking up some cheap Xbox Live credit first should be pretty high on your agenda.
