Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold bargains should you pick up? – 29th November 2016

It had to happen didn’t it? With Black Friday and Cyber Monday grabbing the headlines over the last couple of weeks, the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale was always going to be left with a few measly scraps. And unfortunately this week’s discounts are, quite frankly, a bit rubbish. In fact, there are only a few Xbox One and Xbox 360 discounts in place through the Deals With Gold sale between the 29th Nov – 5th Dec 2016 and the quality doesn’t really get us too interested either.

But head on into the discounts we will and the following should be on your radar – for both good and bad reasons!

Grab – Dead Island Retro Revenge – £2.00 – 50% off

Normally we wouldn’t be mentioning Dead Island Retro Revenge, but in a week where the deals are pretty poor, the £2.00 required in order to grab the retro madness that it brings actually seems to be the best bargain of the week.

You’re not going to find anything stunning with Retro Revenge, and if you picked up the Dead Island Collection a few months back, will already have it in your library, but for a couple of quid, it’s at least worth an hour or two’s play.

Tempter – Drawful 2 – £4.00 – 50% off

drawful 2

Whilst we would prefer to see some discounts in place on the full Jackbox Party Packs (any of them will do), the opportunity to grab Drawful 2 with a 50% price cut this close to Christmas is rather tempting. A classic party title, Drawful will quite easily get your through that most horrid of times…Christmas afternoon with the family, saving you from a world of board games, turkey, sausage rolls and pickled onions.

In fact, Drawful 2 on Xbox One may just be enough to save Christmas itself. Especially at £4.00!

Leave – Rugby World Cup 2015 – £6.40 – 80% off

£6.40 for a rugby title must surely be worth a little think eh? Well, I’m afraid not as Rugby World Cup 2015 is an absolute car crash of a game and should be placed to one side and forgotten about immediately.

You see, not only was Rugby World Cup 2015 completely out of date, and out of touch, with everything a year ago when it first released, but with glitches galore, no online mode to keep the masses happy and hardly any other modes to warrant attention, it is all a bit of a disaster. Granted, the custom cup modes are fairly decent fun for five minutes – but that’s only when they actually work properly. Something which happens very rarely.

You may be a rugby fan and think that £6.40 is worth a shot, but it’s not. Just save your cash for something hugely more enjoyable.

Leave – Farming Simulator 17 Premium Edition – £50.99 – 15% off

Oh look, it’s Farming Simulator and we’re telling you to leave it alone. Some things never change eh!

The hopes were high when the ’17 edition of Farming Simulator arrived on our consoles just a few short months ago. But unfortunately some things are always destined for failure and no matter what new features have been included, farming is still a god damn chore and doesn’t replicate itself brilliantly in the gaming world.

It has to be said that this time round Farming Sim does deliver some decent farming mechanics, and if you’re ingrained in that way of life then perhaps you’ll enjoy it, but for the rest of us, a decent soundtrack isn’t enough to tempt anyone in. Throw in some awkward controls, long loading times and the fact there is very little to do other than, well, farm, then we can’t ever recommend you pick it up.

At least not until its price comes down considerably – something which the measly 15 % off in this weeks Deals With Gold sale doesn’t do.

Sorry for the poor quality of discounts available this time round, but then I guess it was to be expected after the great deals the Black Friday sale bought. If however you see something you like the look of, then make sure you head over and give CDKeys a visit, grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit whilst you’re there.

As always, don’t forget to let us know what you are tempted by. If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale right here.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
