It’s back and bringing numerous Xbox bargains to the masses once more. Yes, the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale is in place again and this week sees a whole host of deals on the table. But whilst it may be approaching payday, chances are you won’t be able to afford, or at least warrant a purchase of each and every game that has been discounted. So which are the deals you should be making a beeline for…and which shouldn’t be touched with a barge pole?
Let us take you on a trip through the best and worst of the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale bargains for 30th August – 5th September 2016.
Don’t forget, you should also be taking a visit to CDKeys and grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit before you even bother attempting to purchase any of this weeks deals. Every little penny you can save will count!
Grab – STAR WARS Battlefront Deluxe Edition – 50% off – £20.00 – Xbox One
Shock horror, Star Wars is being discounted again on Xbox One. The thing is, this time round it looks very very interesting.
Not only has Battlefront been hit with recent new content (with even more on the way), but the 50% off the deluxe edition actually places the proper game – with the proper amount of content – at a decent price.
We’d normally be holding back here and telling you to buy an EA Access pass for the same amount as this game costs, but on this occasion, are telling you to go and grab it immediately. It’s where the smart money is.
Grab – Ultratron – 75% off – £2.00 – Xbox One
There always has to be a dirt cheap indie title that threatens to tempt us in and this week that honour goes to Ultratron.
You’re not going to find anything too fabulous, but for £2, shouldn’t expect the world. Just buy it, enjoy it and think of it as a couple of quid that is very well spent on a decent little pick up and play title.
If you need a bit more help in spending very little, then check out our full review first.
Leave – Ghostbusters – 20% off – £31.99 – Xbox One
It arrived to little acclaim and a 20% price reduction isn’t going to help shift many copies either.
In fact, we’re not sure why Ghostbusters has been included in this week’s Deals With Gold sale as the discount in place is never going to tempt in anyone sat on the fence, whilst those who were interested when it first released just a few weeks ago would have already picked it up.
If you must go bustin’ some ghosts, just hold tight until it drops in price. We’d hazard a guess and say that a huge reduction isn’t too far away.
Leave – Any of the Call of Duty titles on Xbox One – various prices
There are only a few franchises that actually ever warrant huge prices years after release. Call of Duty may be one of those but that in no way makes us feel it’s right to spend £30, £40 or £50 on a game that has been around for a while.
Granted, the Call of Duty franchise has fans all over the world, with more being added by the day, but we struggle to see the value in spending £50 on the Hardened Edition of Ghosts, when we can be buying four or five other games for that same price point.
Give us one huge discount on all the Call of Duty titles available on Xbox One and we’ll be happy. But until then, unless you are absolutely dying to check it out, give them a miss and just wait for the newer games.
