Which of this week’s Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale bargains should you pick up? – 27th June 2017

-

It was quite surprising to see the huge list of discounted Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles last week, especially given that the weeks after E3 usually signify a bit of a lull in gaming terms. But we were never going to complain at what the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale was bringing us, at least not until the this latest sale saw tradition take hold. You see, whilst last week’s sale was great, the latest Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 27th June – 3rd July 2017 is somewhat lacking in both quality and quantity.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t pick out a few of the best and worst deals on offer this week. So we have. Want to know what they are?

GrabCastle Invasion: Throne Out – 33% off – £2.67

Cheap and cheerful. That’s Castle Invasion: Throne Out summed up in two words. Two words which describe exactly why you should buy it.

And for this week it’s even cheaper than usual as the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale has wiped 33% off the asking price. Alright, so that £3.99 price was never going to break a bank in the first place, but now you can save another quid or so.

With 50 levels in all, a ton of button mashing madness and plenty of challenges to get involved in, this micro-budgeted indie hit is well worth a shot.

GrabMomonga Pinball Adventures – 50% off – £2.40

You’ll probably find that you can complete Momonga Pinball Adventures in little more than an hour. But that hour will have so much variation and joy, that you’ll be wondering why on earth you ever bothered dropping weeks of game time into that hugely hyped MMO.

You see, sometimes it’s the most obscure games which deliver the best experiences and chances are you would have completely dismissed Momonga Pinball Adventures on the name alone. But you’d be a fool to do so as it is full of fun and charm, has loads of replayability and ends things with a bit of a cliff hanger.

When you consider the price, you won’t really care that the physics are off and that the leaderboards are glitched, for the fun it brings won’t ever allow you to look at the negatives.

Grab – Team17 Indie Heroes Pack – 80% off – £8.95

Those of you who follow my ramblings will know that I adore Team17. Rarely does a game get delivered from these indie developers that isn’t of a high quality. In fact, sitting here now, I’m not sure of the last Team17 game I didn’t particularly like.

So when you can grab four of Team17’s finest titles with a huge 80% off, you really shouldn’t ignore it. Bringing together The Escapists, Sheltered, OlliOlli2: XL Edition and NOT A HERO: SUPER SNAZZY EDITION was a bit of a masterstroke by the T17 guys.

But for the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale to then strip 80% off that price is something from the gods.

If you haven’t played the four games listed, then it’s all a no-brainer. Hell, even if you’ve dropped in on one or two of them already, then you may as well grab the discounted price that the bundle allows you to enjoy the others for too. Less than a tenner for four games? Yes please!

Leave – Rock N Racing Bundle – 50% off – £4.80

I could be sitting here telling you to leave alone the horribly priced Dead or Alive 5 Last Round skins and costume packs. But if there is one thing worse than a posse of overpriced skins, it’s a double pack of crap games. Like the Rock N Racing Bundle.

At no point in time could I ever urge you to buy Rock N Racing Off Road DX or Grand Prix Rock N Racing. For both of the games are poor racers that bring nothing to the table. So bundling them together is never going to work either, even with a 50% price cut in place.

If you must buy a new racer, then buy anything other than these two titles.

So that’s it for this week. As always let us know what you think of our choices by posting in the comments below or via our usual social channels. Don’t forget to head on over to CDkeys for some super cheap Xbox Live Credit to help spread the cash a little further too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
