What Direction will Scientific Games take under New CEO

0

At the beginning of 2020, history took place in the gaming industry as gaming manufacturer and market leader, Scientific Games, replaced a number of significant positions on their Executive Leadership Board. As one of the largest manufacturers of casino and bingo games in the US, Scientific games supply the globe with products including computerised and mechanical slot machines, table games, IGaming and ILottery products, instant lottery games, lottery gaming systems, terminals and services, sports betting and much more. Their products are well recognised in an array of land-based casinos, as well in a number of the best SG interactive casinos found on bestcasinosites.net.

With the history of the company dating back to as early as 1917, with traces to Autotote, the company has come a significantly long way since the early 20th century. So what does the new leadership team mean for Scientific Games? And will it have much of an impact on the industry?

Below we’ll take a look at who the new leadership team is and what their experience in the industry could mean for the future of the gaming industry manufacturer.

Who is Scientific Gaming?

Describing themselves as an end-to-end gaming and lottery solutions provider, Scientific Games mission is to empower their customers with the world’s best gaming and lottery experiences. With more than 85 years spent carefully acquiring already successful companies with pre-existing substantial customer bases, the company has delivered market leading creative content, innovative technology and unrivalled operating efficiencies.

Scientific Games is headquartered in the epicentre of the gaming and gambling industry, in Las Vegas, Nevada and has over 9,500 employees worldwide. With manufacturing, printing and commercial facilities on six continents, the company really is leading the way on the games front.

What makes Scientific Games stand out?

As a market leader and industry thought leader, Scientific Games are continually researching and developing the latest advanced technology for gaming, sports betting and lottery clients, in which they are considered to be one of the top employees for the technology sector.

Since January this year, the company has on boarded three executives from a rival manufacturer in a bid to raise the stakes between their competitors and explore new casino industry business opportunities. So who are the mystery three that Scientific Games have taken on?

The new CEO’s

Last but not least to be hired in March was one of ‘Aristocratic Technologies’ finest, Matt Wilson. After waiting almost a year to be free of his non-compete clause, Wilson joined Scientific Games as their Chief Executive Officer. As the former Managing Director of Aristocratic Technologies Americas division, Wilson has over 16 years experience in the casino and gaming industry and had steered the Australian Manufacturing giant in a very successful direction for a number of years. During his time at the company, Wilson was credited with delivering a significant amount of financial growth and also capitalised on a number of new business opportunities.  One of his most significant gains for the company was consolidating its North American headquarters from five separate buildings spread across Las Vegas into an 180,000-square-foot facility on a 12-acre campus in the Summerlin area. It’s no wonder that Scientific Games snapped him up.

In February 2020, Siobhan Lane became the second new staff member to join Scientific Games’ Executive Leadership Team, assuming the title of Chief commercial Officer. Lane previously serves as Aristocratic Technologies Senior Vice President for Marketing and Gaming Operations in the US and has more than 12 years of experience under her belt.

The third member, who was first to join Scientific Games in January 2020, was Connie James who joined as Chief Financial Officer. James was previously Chief Financial Officer for the global land-based gaming division of Aristocratic Technologies. However, before taking on her current position, James also served as Corporate Vice President of Finance at Cargill.

What’s more, in an even more intriguing move, in an internal company message, it was announced that Aristocratic Technologies Senior Vice President of Sales, Brian Pierce, would also make the leap over to Scientific Games as Senior Vice President of Gaming Sales. Pierce is said to have over 17 year experience in gaming industry sales and will join the company later on this year.

A new direction for Scientific Games

As two of the worlds largest slot machine providers in the Casino industry, Scientific Games and Aristocratic Technologies have a great deal of rivalry going on. Whilst Scientific Games were primarily a lottery-centric operation, they have been expanding their casino side of operations since early 2013, having acquired companies such as WMS industries and Bailey Technologies two years later in a $5.1 million deal.

Having recently being given a $40 million boost by Chairman Lauren Perelman, through his Mac Andrews and Forbes investment arm, Scientific Games are further set to be in an incredible position for growth. Whilst hiring the best from rival company Aristocratic Technologies may have been a risky move, it certainly looks like their investment is set to pay off.
