Atama – a twist on Xbox horror

Are your ready to see through their eyes? Just make sure of one thing – you stay out of their sight. Yep, Atama is on Xbox.

Atama brings stealth horror to Xbox, as you make the most of some psychic powers in order to see through the eyes of your pursuers. It’s this skill and ability which will prove vital should you wish to remain undetected. And believe us, remaining undetected will be your utter goal.

Stay out of sight

Priced at £8.39 and running on Xbox Series X|S (no Xbox One love here), Atama is the creation of Team Zutsuu and Indie Games Starter, as they allow players the opportunity to get involved in an all-new horror experience.

It’s set in Japan, as you are left to navigate through an isolated village, solving puzzles, coming up against various creatures, getting the hell outta there. Playing the role of Kaede, it’s up to you to make sense of this weird land, if only as you look to uncover the secrets and role of a distant relative.

But as you’ve probably guessed by now, the adventure fast turns into a bit of a nightmare.

You can buy Atama from the Xbox Store, playing on Xbox Series X|S. It’s fully optimised for Series consoles too.

Atama Description

Use psychic powers in Atama to see through the eyes of your pursuers to avoid detection as you investigate a cursed rural Japanese village. You can’t fight back; you must rely only on your abilities and your wits to avoid your enemies. Atama is a stealth horror game set in an isolated Japanese village. Full of devilish puzzles and sinister creatures, with a gameplay focus on seeing through the eyes of enemies, Atama aims to deliver a fresh experience to the genre. Kaede’s family had always told her stories about eccentric Aunt Noriko, but she’s a superstitious old woman, living so far outside of the city. She has no phone, no Internet… Kaede only knew her via infrequent letters… until they stopped coming. Distant relatives drift apart all the time, but the last letter was different: Desperate ravings about “your birthright” and “the family curse”. What did any of it mean? Kaede decides to hop the next train out to Kisaragi. To Aunt Noriko. To a nightmare she never saw coming.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
