Where Winds Meet – now on Xbox and Game Pass

One of the biggest surprises from the latest Xbox Showcase wasn’t a brand-new game announcement – it was the arrival of Where Winds Meet on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass.

Already a huge success elsewhere, the sprawling Wuxia RPG is available right now, giving Xbox players the chance to jump into one of the most ambitious open-world adventures of recent years without spending an extra penny if they’re subscribed to Game Pass.

And as if a day one Game Pass launch wasn’t enough, developer Everstone Studio also used the showcase to pull back the curtain on Hidden Mountain, the next major expansion heading to the game.

At A Glance

  • Where Winds Meet is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming
  • Launches day one with Xbox Game Pass
  • Free-to-play Wuxia open-world action RPG
  • More than 80 million players worldwide since launch
  • New Hidden Mountain expansion officially revealed
  • Exclusive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks available until July 23rd

A Huge Day One Addition For Game Pass

Game Pass subscribers are constantly on the lookout for their next obsession, and Where Winds Meet could easily become one of the service’s biggest success stories this year.

The free-to-play action RPG has already attracted more than 80 million players worldwide and has built up a Very Positive user rating on Steam since its original launch. Now Xbox players can finally discover what all the excitement is about.

Set in 10th-century China, Where Winds Meet combines fast-paced martial arts combat, open-world exploration and deep role-playing systems within a vast Wuxia-inspired adventure. Players are free to carve out their own legend, whether that’s through story-driven solo play, cooperative adventures with friends or testing their skills against others in PvP encounters.

Hidden Mountain Expands The Journey

While the Xbox launch is grabbing the headlines, the newly announced Hidden Mountain expansion could prove just as exciting for long-term players.

Following the arrival of the Hexi and Imperial Palace updates, Hidden Mountain introduces a huge new region built around vertical exploration. Rather than simply expanding the map horizontally, this latest area focuses on towering peaks, layered environments and hidden pathways that reward curiosity and experimentation.

At the heart of the expansion sits the mysterious Mohist Sect, a secretive faction that promises to introduce new storylines, fresh gameplay mechanics, additional martial arts techniques and plenty of mysteries waiting to be uncovered.

Built For Xbox From The Ground Up

Everstone Studio has also put considerable effort into ensuring the Xbox version feels right at home on console.

Smart Delivery support means players automatically receive the best version for their hardware, while the user interface has been redesigned for larger screens and sofa-based gaming sessions. Text scaling has been improved, making menus, inventory screens and dialogue easier to read from across the room.

On the technical side, Xbox Series X players can enjoy a crisp 4K upscaled presentation, while Series S users benefit from a 2K upscale. HDR support and AMD FSR 2 technology help bring the game’s stunning landscapes to life, while performance optimisations aim to keep combat and exploration running smoothly.

Extra Rewards For Game Pass Ultimate Members

Those jumping in through Game Pass Ultimate can also claim a special launch bundle packed with useful items.

Available from June 7th through to July 23rd, the perks package includes Echo Jade, Coins, Attune Stones, Pillow Pills and Lingering Melodies – giving new players a useful boost as they begin their journey through the Jianghu.

A New Adventure Awaits On Xbox

Where Winds Meet already had an enormous player base before arriving on Xbox, but today’s launch feels like a significant moment for the game. A day one Game Pass debut, extensive console enhancements and the reveal of another huge expansion all combine to make this one of the more interesting RPG arrivals of the year. Stay tuned for our review of Where Winds Meet on Xbox soo.

If you’ve been searching for a fresh open-world adventure to lose yourself in, Where Winds Meet is available right now, for free, through the Xbox Store.
