Remember the legend of Wonder Boy? You’ll soon be able to check it out once more.

DotEmu and Lizardcube have confirmed that they are working to bring the wonderful Wonderboy: The Dragon’s Trap to consoles and PC. Also known as Wonder Boy III, the SEGA and PC Engine legend combines exploration, action and adventure together into one lovely package. This new version will stay true to the original but you can expect to see the usual graphical improvements, enhanced sound and brand new features all included.

Features will include:

  • A huge interconnected world!
  • 6 playable forms for our shape-shifting hero, with different abilities!
  • Dragons of all kinds! A Zombie Dragon! A Mummy Dragon! A Samurai Dragon!
  • An eye-patch wearing shop-keeper pig who may or may not provide a sense of warmth and direction!
  • Beautiful, hand-drawn animated graphics!
  • A memorable soundtrack, based on Shinichi Sakamoto’s originals, re-imagined and recorded with classical instruments!

Whilst there is no release date or further details, we’d love to see the series’ most emblematic episode appear on Xbox One in full HD! We will of course bring you more as and when we can.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
