Word Quest Pirates – super cheap Xbox gaming

Gaming bargains don’t come much cheaper than Word Quest: Pirates.

Word Quest: Pirates has launched on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with a price tag of just £1.69, a figure so low it barely costs more than the spare change you might find down the back of the sofa.

Despite the tiny price, this swashbuckling word puzzle adventure from developer and publisher Gametry invites players to set sail across mysterious islands, uncover hidden words and hunt down buried treasure. Although if we’re honest, we’re struggling to see much in the form of ‘sailing’.

A Puzzle Adventure On The High Seas

Word Quest: Pirates takes the familiar word search formula and wraps it in a nautical adventure.

Players will travel across a map of islands, solving word puzzles to unlock treasure chests and progress further through the pirate-themed journey. Each level challenges players to scan a grid of letters and uncover hidden words before moving on to the next destination.

As the adventure unfolds, puzzles grow more demanding, encouraging sharper observation and faster word spotting.

Treasure Hunting With Letters

The central gameplay loop is simple but effective: find the hidden words, unlock treasure and continue the voyage.

Each solved puzzle brings players closer to uncovering legendary pirate loot while navigating a sea filled with rival buccaneers and mysterious locations. It’s a relaxed, accessible style of puzzle gameplay that can be enjoyed in short bursts.

That makes Word Quest: Pirates particularly suited for casual sessions when you’re looking for something quick and easy to dip into.

One Of The Cheapest Games On Xbox

The real headline here, though, is the price. At just £1.69, Word Quest: Pirates sits among the absolute cheapest games available on Xbox, making it an easy impulse purchase for puzzle fans or achievement hunters looking for something new to try.

While it may not offer blockbuster scale, the game provides a straightforward word puzzle experience that matches its ultra-budget price point. If you have previously enjoyed the word-tests in the POWGI games, we’d suspect this one will appeal to your gaming needs.

Available now through the Xbox Store, on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for just £1.69, it might be one of the easiest additions to your Xbox library you’ll make all year.

After all, treasure hunting rarely comes this cheap.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. At that price I don’t need to feel guilty if it sits in my backlog and gets ignored for the next 5 years like most games I buy
