As promised a few months ago, the Xbox One is getting a shot in the arm with some Final Fantasy goodness; today the latest offering appears: World of Final Fantasy MAXIMA.
World of Final Fantasy originally launched on PS4 back in October 2016. Players took control of twin siblings Reynn and Lann who travel to the world of Grymoire to get their memories back. On their journey they encounter classic Final Fantasy characters and enemies from throughout the series’ 30-year history.
The enemies they encounter can be captured Pokémon-esque style, and then used to battle later foes with. Captured enemies are known as Mirages but rather than have them line up in a straight line for battle, WoFFM introduces a stacking element, where Mirages are stacked on top of each other with each stack sharing their resistances… but also weaknesses.
The MAXIMA version that launches today on Xbox One will also include a few new features. Firstly, there are new Mirages to capture and train, the fishing from Final Fantasy XV returns and the twins can have a nice leisurely break with Noctis. But the biggest new addition is that of the Avatar Change System. This allows players to change from Reynn and Lann into classic FF characters, known as Champions!
Everything else is still included in this version such as the cute chibi style, online battles and deep, rewarding combat.
World of Final Fantasy MAXIMA is available to download right now from the Xbox Store, priced at £34.99. It can be a great starting point for young and old gamers looking to experience Final Fantasy for the first time.
