World of Tanks Heat – it’s coming!

The battlefield is being supercharged, and a new breed of war machine is ready to roll out in World of Tanks: HEAT.

Wargaming, the legendary developer behind World of Tanks, has officially revealed World of Tanks: HEAT.

This is a brand-new, standalone free-to-play tactical vehicle shooter set in an alternate post-WWII era, coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Steam Deck.

This new title brings the franchise’s celebrated tactical tank combat into a faster, more dynamic, and explosive new arena, where players will command hero-enhanced tanks in fast-paced 10v10 battles.

A Bold New Vision for a Legendary Franchise

World of Tanks: HEAT is not a sequel or an update; it’s an entirely new and bold vision for the franchise. It’s designed to deliver a fresh tank experience with a new setting, new gameplay mechanics, and a much faster pace, all powered by cutting-edge technology.

It inherits the core DNA of the original World of Tanks but reimagines it for a new generation of action.

Think of it as a game that is all about giving players more power, more choice, and more ways to dominate the battle.

Heroic Tank Gameplay

The biggest new addition is the concept of “hero-enhanced” tanks. You will operate a roster of experimental vehicles, each with unique roles and powerful abilities.

You will also play as elite “Agents,” specially trained pilots who add another layer of tactical depth with their own combat skills and support powers.

The game features a deep customisation system that allows you to craft truly unique war machines. You can blend real-world post-WWII tank designs and technologies to create your perfect vehicle.

Each tank can be personalised with advanced weapon systems, new armour modules, visual mods, and battlefield-altering abilities.

A New Spin on Classic Modes

World of Tanks: HEAT will adapt and transform classic shooter modes like Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Conquest into a new and exciting tank-based experience, ensuring a wide variety of ways to play.

World of Tanks: HEAT is being developed on Wargaming’s new proprietary engine, promising stunning graphics, immersive environments, and dynamic cinematic effects.

Full Cross-Platform and Cross-Progression

In a huge move for the company, this will be Wargaming’s first-ever simultaneous, full cross-platform launch, with full cross-progression support. This means you can team up with and play against friends seamlessly across Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store), PlayStation 5, and PC (Wargaming Game Center and Steam).

A Word from the Creators

The team at Wargaming is excited to finally unveil this ambitious new project.

World of Tanks: HEAT is our bold vision for the franchise, delivering an entirely new tank experience with a fresh setting, new gameplay mechanics, faster pace, and cutting-edge tech,” said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming. “Inheriting the renowned World of Tanks DNA, the game lets players enjoy tank warfare like never before, battling in ways we once only could imagine.

Today’s announcement is an important milestone for our team, reflecting all the hard work and creativity we’ve invested in the project,” said Artyom Yantsevich, World of Tanks: HEAT Product Director. “We are looking forward to working closely with players to shape HEAT’s future and we’re excited to present the game for the first time at gamescom.

A new era of tactical tank warfare has been ignited. With its faster pace, deep customization, and full cross-platform support, World of Tanks: HEAT is set to deliver a dynamic and explosive new experience for both veterans and newcomers to the franchise.

The battle is about to get a whole lot hotter.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
