The folks still wading through the zombie hordes of co-op shooter World War Z are being treated to a free update – Dronemaster – on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. There’s also a bit of paid DLC for your perusal, so let’s delve deeper into the new additions.
The Dronemaster update is available right now to download for free in World War Z, the intense co-op shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film. This latest update introduces full PvE crossplay support across all three major platforms – Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store – letting you party up online with friends no matter which one they’re on.
World War Z has also received its first new playable class since launch last year: the Dronemaster. This highly versatile character comes with its own personal drone, enabling you to stun zombies when they get a bit too close for comfort. You can customise your drone in the perk tree to suit your style of play and squad tactics; increase its offensive capabilities to make it more lethal in an assault, or raise its defensive powers to better support the rest of your team.
In addition to that, there’s a new rare weapon pick-up for your armory with its very own upgrade tree: the ACW-20. This low-caliber, semi-automatic grenade launcher is perfect for mopping up tightly packed groups, but watch out for friendly fire. There are also a variety of new weapon upgrades, perk rebalancing, fixes and quality-of-life improvements brought about by the update.
And finally, players can grab World War Z’s new paid DLC in the form of the Signature Weapons Pack, which includes four unique weapon skins for the game’s main characters. This DLC is free for Season Pass and GOTY Edition owners, while it’s also available for standalone purchase for £5.79 on the Xbox Store and PS Store.
