Wrack Reclamation – now on Xbox!

Wrack: Reclamation has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, giving fans of old-school shooters another excuse to point a very large gun at an approaching alien horde.

This remake of 2014’s PC release of Wrack, puts you in control of Kain as he blasts, slices and hyperblasts his way through an invasion, with kill streaks and increasingly ridiculous explosions at the centre of the action.

Keep The Kill Streak Rolling

Wrack: Reclamation has no interest in letting you stand around admiring the scenery. The aim is to keep moving, keep shooting and keep the enemies coming.

Every kill contributes towards a kill streak, with the way you damage an enemy influencing just how spectacular its demise becomes. More extreme kills give you additional time to maintain the streak, turning each encounter into a frantic attempt to keep the chain alive.

There is also a somewhat messy trick up Kain’s sleeve. Once an enemy has fallen, its corpse can be attacked again, either with your weapons or melee attack, exploding it into pieces and resetting the kill timer. Suddenly, even dead aliens aren’t quite finished with you.

Guns, Swords And Hyperblasts

Kain isn’t exactly short of ways to deal with the invasion either. The remake expands the arsenal with the gloogun, SMG and railgun, while the returning Pulsar gets company from alternate fire options across the weapons.

That extra firepower becomes particularly useful when the action gets crowded. Deal enough damage and you’ll build towards a Hyperblast, a devastating attack that can be unleashed against tougher enemies or used to clear groups of weaker foes.

Movement is another big part of surviving. Kain can move at speed, use abilities such as a super jump and explore the levels for secrets and treasure rather than simply charging from one firefight to the next.

From 2014 To A New Generation

This isn’t simply a case of dusting off the original game and putting it on a new platform. Wrack: Reclamation is a remake of the 2014 release, rebuilt in Unreal Engine and expanded with its additional weapons, alternate fires and revamped action.

The campaign also has more than regular enemies to worry about. Once you’ve built up a suitably ridiculous kill streak, minibosses and bosses are waiting to put a stop to your run and test everything you’ve learned.

The game has previously made its way to Steam, where it has received Positive reviews, as well as Nintendo Switch. Now the Xbox Series X|S version gives Kain another platform on which to continue his particularly explosive career.

With its emphasis on speed, score-chasing and keeping the carnage flowing, Wrack: Reclamation looks built for players who would rather measure a successful firefight by the size of their kill streak than by how much ammunition they have left. Grab a copy from the Xbox Store.
