Xbox Games With Gold freebies switch up as Stacking and BLEED 2 go free

xbox games with gold december 2020

It may have been a crap old year but just as we begin to see the back of 2020 the Xbox Games With Gold scheme is able to deliver one last present – two new free games that Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox 360 players should download asap.

The middle of each and every month sees the switch in freebies provided via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme and December 2020 is no different, giving Xbox gamers the chance to fill their digital library with a couple more games. In a month that has already seen The Raven Remastered and Saints Row IV Gat Out Of Hell stripped of their price tags, December now drops the rather gorgeous Stacking into the equation, along with the manic BLEED 2.

Available to download free of charge right now – alongside that of The Raven which is staying in place until the end of the year – Stacking and BLEED 2 should well provide many more hours of Xbox goodness, with two very different adventures awaiting.

Stacking was first released back in 2011 as a native Xbox 360 title by the teams at Double Fine and THQ Nordic, giving gamers the chance to fall into a weird world that was populated by some Russian stacking dolls. Working through various puzzles and challenges, the main USP here was the fact that these dolls do what Russian stacking dolls do best – stack. That unique premise was more than enough to see it gained a rather tasty little following. It should also stand up to the more modern 2020 way of gaming, and so if you’re in the market for a new puzzler, and don’t want to pay up any form of cash, heading to the Xbox Store right now and taking home a download for yourself should be the next thing you do today. You’ve got until the end of December before Stacking will cruise back up to its usual £9.99 price tag.

Sitting in place alongside Stacking is a totally different kettle of fish – BLEED 2. A title that dropped onto Xbox One in February 2018 as a follow up to the original BLEED, this gained a cult following in very short time – mostly due to the fact that it was hugely accessible and came with a whole ton of replayability. In fact, our review from back in the day whipped BLEED 2 up with a 4.5/5 rating – if that doesn’t sell it to you then we don’t know what will.

If you’re up for something that is furious, fun and fast, or indeed fast furious fun, then BLEED 2 is that game. Get over to the Xbox Store and nab your free download right now. As long as you’re a valid holder of an Xbox Live Gold Subscription, you’ll find it stripped of the usual £11.99 price tag until the middle of January 2021.

As always, with this change in Games With Gold focus, it does mean we lose a game from the freebie list. This time round that game is Saints Row IV Gat Out Of Hell. If you’re reading this and haven’t picked it up yet, then well, you’re going to need to be as quick as Johnny Gat to get it free.

Let us know in the comments what you think of these latest free Xbox Games With Gold titles.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
