It’s been rather quiet in stores for a couple of weeks, but the new Xbox One releases are starting to hit those shelves once more. With four upcoming physical releases, ranging from a sports offering, to a city builder, there’s surely something for you.
Aven Colony – 25th July – Xbox One
As a sci-fi city building sim, Aven Colony takes you to a hostile world of extra-terrestrials, a place light-years away from Earth. You’ll need to build, tweak, and help maintain a settlement within the harsh environments of Aven Prime, having to tackle various storms, freezing winters and toxic clouds. The colony must be protected from the likes of spores which infect the buildings, giant acid-spewing sandworms, and anything else the planet can throw your way to hinder the survival of the human race. There’s also a sandbox mode to explore all the content using your own choice of constraints and potential goings on.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun – 28th July – Xbox One
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun looks to bring a beautiful, Edo period, Japanese environment to the table, along with a difficult campaign delivering over 25 hours of play. It’ll place you in control of up to five characters at once, each of which has their own versatile skills that’ll be useful for mastering the missions; for example, Hayato is an agile ninja going about his business with the silence of a sword, whereas Samurai Mugen takes a more powerful approach and is able to defeat more enemies at once. One thing is for sure, you’ll need to hone your skills in this real time tactical game, using great planning and stealth to overcome any enemies in your way and complete the objectives.

Fortnite – 28th July – Xbox One
First the Storm came, wiping out most of the world’s population, and then waves of monsters started to arrive, night after night. Talk about bad luck. But don’t worry because you’re going to be the hero of the Action/Building hybrid RPG, Fortnite, by recruiting ninjas, commandos and constructor to reclaim the Earth. Scavenge for resources to craft all sorts of homemade weapons, unlocking wilder schematics of DIY destruction as you progress. The fun can be shared with your pals too, as seamless drop-in co-op play is present, allowing you to work together to design the most extravagant of forts to hold the monsters at bay.
