This week’s latest releases appear to take an old school approach to gaming, with two of the three Xbox One titles bringing a whole load of classics to the modern era.

Welcome to an 8-bit world of Atari and arcade classics – 50 to be exact – all of which are remastered to recreate the legendary games in HD quality and feature online play, global leaderboards and achievements. Amongst the games included are vertical shooter Centipede, RealSports Volleyball, the end to end back and forth of Pong, and strategic board game Backgammon. There are so many games in volume one of the Atari Flashback Classics Collection; it may take you a while to get through all these!

Atari Flashback Classics Collection Vol.2 – 31st March – Xbox One

We’re having a déjà vu here, with the second volume of the Atari Flashback Classics Collection bringing another 50 classic titles once again, with HD quality visuals as well as more achievements, leaderboards and online play. There’s the space shooter Asteroids, brick smasher Breakout, board game delights like Checkers and Chess, sporting greats such as Championship Soccer and RealSports Baseball, flipping madness in Video Pinball. It has a whole load of variety that’ll surely keep you busy for hours on end.

Rogue Stormers – 31st March – Xbox One

Imagine a twin stick shooter with classic run ‘n’ gun gameplay, which has been modernised style-wise and every playthrough feels different due to randomly generated levels and loads of different perks and weapons. Well, that’s what you’re getting in the fast paced Rogue Stormers, a game that lets you go it alone, or with up to three friends locally/online, in a bid to blast your way through loads of enemies to save Ravensdale. Be prepared for a challenge though as the difficulty remains balanced through and if you die, then it’s time to start over.

Of course, if you don’t want to buy your games in disc format, you could always get involved with a digital download. Buy your points from here and save money on each digital download you make!

Been gaming casually since the SNES as a youngster but found my true passion for games on the Playstation 1 (the forbidden word ooo). My addiction grew to its pinnacle with the purchase of an Xbox 360 & Xbox Live Service. A recovering GS hunter that will still play literally any game.
