THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake Xbox Series X|S

Just when you thought it was safe to come back from behind the sofa, THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD is back again! This time, with an update for Xbox Series X|S consoles. See the horrors of the Curien mansion in 4K UHD glory in THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake for Xbox Series X|S.

The arcade cabinets that helped put THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD on the map back in 1997 have probably seen better days now. Uncalibrated guns, grubby finger marks all over and a weird smell of anti-fungal spray having been placed next to the shoe exchange point at the local bowling alley for over have all contributed to its dilapidation.

Thankfully, you needn’t worry about any of this with THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake. If anything, this new update has given the remake a new lick of paint with some improved visuals. Of course, it isn’t actually a terribly scary game. Or at least that was the case. Who knows with these improved visuals? Maybe things look a bit too realistic now and you’ll be having nightmares about the Curien mansion? Sweet dreams!

Our initial review of the game when it first launched commended the gameplay but criticized its short length and of course, the lack of lightguns. That is something no amount of next-gen update can provide unfortunately, but still, it looks a damn sight better than the original arcade release now.

This update is free to all existing owners of the game. For those yet to pick it up, THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is on the Xbox Store now priced at £20.99. Let us know in the comments below if you will be diving back in with this new update.
