There’s been a brand new trailer released by Team17 and Villa Gorilla for the upcoming delightful pinball platformer Yoku’s Island Express and it focuses on the abilities possessed by Yoku. You’d be flipping mad to miss it!
Yoku the dung beetle is the newest postmaster on Mokumana Island, but his job won’t be as easy as advertised, with the islanders plagued by storms and quakes brought about by a sleeping deity who’s restless. To be able to help those in need, Yoku must traverse the island using a unique blend of pinball mechanics and open world exploration. This latest trailer shows off some of the abilities he’ll acquire throughout the quest at hand.
Although there are a fair few abilities to discover, the standouts are the Noisemaker, the Slug Vacuum and the Dive Fish. The latter ability allows Yoku to dive into the depths of the island, whilst the Noisemaker is a party whistle that’ll be useful in waking up sleep villagers. The Slug Vacuum ensures you’ll clear up the island of pesky slugs, sucking them up before utilising their explosive power to open up new routes and remove stubborn rocks out of your way.
