The people over at Team17 and Playtonic Games have today revealed an exciting new trailer focusing on some of the multiplayer aspects of Yooka-Laylee.

When Yooka-Laylee arrives on April 11th of this year, you don’t just have to go it alone, as the option to throw a second player into the mix locally for a co-star role in the main adventure. Their mission as the ‘Bee Team’ will be to grab quills and collect butterflies to help out Yooka and Laylee, whilst also being able to stop traps in order to aid the first player overcome any particular tricky parts. During the single player campaign, you can pick up special coins to be used to try and win some extremely sought-after pagies – collectibles – from the arcade cabinets.

What are the arcade cabinets? Well, these can be found in Rextro’s Arcade and are playable in both a solo and local couch co-op capacity (for up to four players). There will be eight different mini-games such as the arena brawler Glaciators, where collecting quills is the aim, the appropriately titled racer Kartos Karting and the flag capturing Blag the Flag to name just a few. Also included are shoot-em-up Gun-let Run, Jobstacle Course and Hurdle Hijinx. There’s plenty of variety and the arcade is sure to be an exciting addition with pals and without – those leaderboards are ready for your high scores!

You’ve still got a little while to wait though until Yooka-Laylee launches on April 11th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac and Linux, so for now just enjoy the new multiplayer video…
