Yooka Replaylee – out now!

The definitive, remade, and enhanced version of the 3D indie platforming collectathon darling has just glided its way onto digital storefronts in the form of Yooka-Replaylee.

Packed with new moves, more story, and double the collectibles, Yooka-Replaylee is here. This ultimate retrospective from the key creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie games at developer Playtonic Games is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC for £24.99.

This isn’t just a simple remaster; it’s a game that has been tweaked, sharpened, and upgraded to create the ultimate version of the beloved buddy-duo’s greatest adventure.

A Journey We’ve Been Following

We’ve been huge fans of Yooka and Laylee since their very first adventure. In our original review of Yooka-Laylee from 2017, we praised it for spearheading the revival of the 3D platformer, stating that “it’s easy to get sucked in to the worlds because even with the cartoon aesthetic, there is a hell of a lot of life in them.” Our only gripe was that we “don’t want it to ever end.

And then, it was back in June of last year that we first got wind of this definitive new version, when we reported that Yooka-Laylee was getting reworked as the gorgeous Yooka-Replaylee. Now, that day has finally arrived.

The Story Retold and Remixed

This is more than just a fresh coat of paint. The entire moveset has been tweaked, sharpened, and upgraded, with all-new moves and combos for a more flowing and expressive style of platforming. This is combined with new camera features and refinements to make framing the action a breeze.

The worlds themselves have been expanded. New areas have been added, brand-new challenges have been introduced, and old ones have been improved or replaced completely. Collectibles have been rearranged across all levels, and the number of discoverable Pagies has been doubled to 300!

The old minigames are gone too! Instead, you can now take control of Rextro in his very own isometric platforming game for shiny rewards. You can also collect the new currency, Q.U.I.D.S, to spend on Tonics, which are back with all new flavours, allowing you to equip multiple game-changing enhancements to customise your playstyle.

For the Collectors: A Physical Edition is Coming!

For those who prefer a physical copy on their shelf, you’re in luck! Publisher PM Studios and Playtonic have also announced that a physical retail release of Yooka-Replaylee is hitting shelves worldwide on 18th December 2025.

This physical edition for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 will include the base game, a collectible game map poster, and an exclusive character sticker pack, all for a suggested retail price of $49.99 USD.

Your Adventurer’s Satchel

Here’s what you can expect from this definitive new version:

  • The Definitive Remake of a 3D Platforming Classic.
  • A Gameplay Overhaul: A tweaked and upgraded moveset, new combos, and a refined camera.
  • Double the Content: New areas, new and improved challenges, and double the number of Pagies to collect.
  • Brand-New Rextro’s Arcade: A new isometric platforming game-within-a-game.
  • A Dreamy Orchestral Soundtrack: The original score returns as a beautifully arranged orchestral version.
  • A Physical Edition Coming in December.

The cheeky embellishments have been added, and the story is ready to be retold. If you’re a fan of classic 3D platformers, Yooka-Replaylee is ready for you on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation 5 and PC.

It’s time to save the world (again)!

Stay tuned for our full review of Yooka-Replaylee on Xbox, coming soon.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
