There’s a point with games like Zumba – Treasure of Marble Island where familiarity becomes the main selling point. If you’ve played one of these marble shooters before, you already know exactly what you’re getting into… for better or worse.
Now available on Xbox Series X|S, this latest from EpiXR Games continues a long line of similar releases, once again built around matching coloured marbles before they reach the end of the track.

The Same Core, Once Again
At its heart, nothing has really changed.
You’ll aim and fire marbles into a moving chain, matching three or more of the same colour to clear them away. The goal is simple: stop the line before it reaches the end. It’s a formula that’s been around for years and still has a certain pick-up-and-play appeal.
But it’s also one that relies heavily on execution, and that’s where things tend to matter most.
A New Setting, Familiar Structure
Treasure of Marble Island shifts the action to a tropical backdrop, with beaches, jungle ruins, volcanic areas and hidden temples making up the journey.
Each area introduces slightly different layouts and obstacles, along with faster pacing as you progress. It gives the game a bit of visual variety, even if the underlying structure rarely strays from what you’d expect.
Power-Ups Help… To A Point
There are a handful of abilities available to keep things moving.
Explosive marbles, time freezes, repaint options and even a rewind mechanic all give you ways to recover from mistakes or clear tricky sections. They add a bit of flexibility, but they don’t fundamentally change how the game plays.
If you’re already sold on the formula, they’re welcome. If not, they’re unlikely to sway you.
A Series With A Patchy Track Record
EpiXR’s Zumba games have been fairly consistent in one sense… they keep arriving.
We’ve covered a number of them over time, but the results haven’t always been strong. In fact, when we reviewed Zumba – Treasure of the Marble Sea, it landed with a 1.5/5 score, with the verdict that it “misses the mark” and struggles to deliver a satisfying experience.
That inevitably hangs over Treasure of Marble Island. While it sticks closely to the same blueprint, whether it improves on past efforts is something players will need to judge for themselves.
Zumba – Treasure of Marble Island from the Xbox Store doesn’t take many risks.
It delivers a straightforward version of a well-known idea, with a new theme and a few added mechanics layered on top. For some, that familiarity will be enough for a quick, casual distraction. For others, especially those hoping for something more refined or inventive, it may feel a little too close to what’s come before.
