Love the stuff that H.P. Lovecraft has created? You’re in luck because there are a ton of great games already available that have been hugely inspired by his works – the likes of Lovecraft’s Untold Stories and Call of Cthulhu immediately spring to mind. Today though comes another, and The Sinking City on Xbox One, PS4 and PC is one of the most hotly anticipated.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, The Sinking City from Bigben and Frogwares Interactive takes us back to the 1920s to partake in an action investigation experience which has been created with the master of horror in mind.

Priced up at £59.99, the Necronomicon Edition of The Sinking City is that which sees the game launch, a few days ahead of the Standard Edition dropping on the 27th June. You’ll be able to pick that edition up for £49.99, but that will see you forgo the options of getting access to some extra goodies that are found in the Necronomicon Edition. And if we’re honest, you’ll probably want those extra bits as they bring the extra Worshippers of the Necronomicon DLC, which has 3 side quests with the infamous Necronomicon and new monsters, along with The Investigator Pack DLC – complete with the Private Investigator outfit, First Aid Kits, Antipsychotics and a crafting materials starter pack.

Edit: You can now also purchase The Investigator Pack as a standalone item for £3.99, whilst new weaponry comes in the form of the Chicago Organ Grinder for £1.59. Further to that, an extra initial Skill Point will cost £2.39 and will happily help you out from the start of the game. The Worshippers of the Necronomicon is also now available for £14.99 and will no doubt appeal to those who have purchased the Standard Edition

But what exactly will you find in The Sinking City on Xbox One, PS4 and PC? Well, our full review is well underway and will be with you in the coming days, but basically put you are thrown into the world of a private detective, one Charles Reed, who finds himself investigating the cause of an unprecedented supernatural flood in Oakmount, Massachusetts. As you may expect from a tale that comes with Lovecraft influences, not all is as it seems and you’ll fast discover an oppressive atmosphere which is affecting not just the city, but the minds of those within it.

It’ll be up to you to discover the truth behind the open world of Oakmount, taking in a game that has multiple different endings and a whole arsenal full of old school weaponry.

If you reckon you can help Charles manage his own mental health, and stop him from succumbing to his strange visions, then The Sinking City is certainly a game you should be checking out. Just head on over to the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store or your favourite PC option and splash the cash right now. And don’t forget, if it’s just the Standard Edition you are after, you’ll need to hold tight until the 27th June.
